Circular Economy Strategic Insights A Simple Guide to Circularity-based Business Opportunities

Circular Economy Strategic Insights A Simple Guide to Circularity-based Business Opportunities
English | 2022 | ISBN: 978-8740340938 | 95 Pages | EPUB | 2 MB
Circular economy adoption has become a strategic imperative for all organisations to consider in terms of the strategic, economic and ESG corporate value to be gained by transforming operations. Circular operations can be divided into two main operating environments, the recovery of used products, components and materials for reuse and repurposing waste stream materials to form valuable inputs for by-products. Industry is nearing the inflection point, when circular transformation no longer becomes an option for followers but becomes a matter of competitive survival against early adopters.

A Guide of Implementing a Circular Economy

A Guide of Implementing a Circular Economy
English | 2022 | ISBN: 978-87-403-4095-2 | 71 Pages | EPUB | 2.2 MB
This book is a guide for implementing the circular economic (CE) model from theory to practice. The first chapter refers to the origins of CE, reflection on the theory of evolution that established a linear economic model, and schools of thought. The second chapter details theoretical aspects of CE by exploring planetary boundaries, doughnut economics, life cycle, and the proposals of some institutions. Resulting with a statement about why a company should implement a CE model. The third chapter reflects on the circular economy´s principles, and how to implement and assess CE. Finally, the last chapter illustrates templates to implement CE.

Systemic Circular Economy Solutions for Fiber Reinforced Composites

Systemic Circular Economy Solutions for Fiber Reinforced Composites
English | 2023 | ISBN: 3031223519 | 472 Pages | PDF (True) | 14 MB
This open access book provides an overview of the work undertaken within the FiberEUse project, which developed solutions enhancing the profitability of composite recycling and reuse in value-added products, with a cross-sectorial approach. Glass and carbon fiber reinforced polymers, or composites, are increasingly used as structural materials in many manufacturing sectors like transport, constructions and energy due to their better lightweight and corrosion resistance compared to metals. However, composite recycling is still a challenge since no significant added value in the recycling and reprocessing of composites is demonstrated. FiberEUse developed innovative solutions and business models towards sustainable Circular Economy solutions for post-use composite-made products. Three strategies are presented, namely mechanical recycling of short fibers, thermal recycling of long fibers and modular car parts design for sustainable disassembly and remanufacturing. The validation of the FiberEUse approach within eight industrial demonstrators shows the potentials towards new Circular Economy value-chains for composite materials.

Biotic Resources Circular Bioeconomy Perspective

Biotic Resources; Circular Bioeconomy Perspective
by Thallada Bhaskar

English | 2023 | ISBN: 1032371005 | 253 pages | True PDF | 13.17 MB
This reference book provides advanced knowledge on sustainable biogenic waste management. It covers innovative waste processing technologies to produce biofuels, energy products, and biochemicals. To create a circular bioeconomy, it is imperative to develop processes where the waste generated through one process acts as a feedstock for the other. This book discusses the latest developments in biochemical and thermochemical methods of conversion and covers the potential of different kinds of biomass in more decentralized biorefineries. It describes sustainable solutions for a greener supplement to fossil resources. The book is meant for microbiologists, chemists, and biotechnologists.

Material Matters Developing Business for a Circular Economy

English | 2022 | ISBN: 1032193271 | 273 pages | True PDF | 45.56 MB
Our planet is a closed system with limited material resources, yet our current economic model is designed in a one-way direction from resource extraction to disposal, leading to resource depletion. This book proposes a new economic model, offering an alternative to this linear ‘take-make-waste’ economy.
Material Matters shows a way of creating a circular economy by using the unlimited resources we have: renewable energy, data and intelligence. It describes a system based on circular business models centred on selling performance rather than ownership, designing products and buildings as resource banks and equipping products with a ‘material passport’ to ensure their usability for future generations. Businesses thereby become custodians of materials, rather than consumers of materials and sellers of products. The book evokes the vision of a radically new economic model based on a compelling narrative, supported with cases that have been developed in conjunction with major companies, for example, convincing Philips to sell light instead of lamps, saving energy and materials by creating a whole new business model, a case which has become iconic for the circular economy.
