The Fundamental Processes in Ecology Life and the Earth System, 2nd Edition

Free Download The Fundamental Processes in Ecology
by Wilkinson, David;

English | 2023 | ISBN: 0192884646 | 177 pages | True PDF | 66.55 MB
This thought-provoking book introduces a way to study ecosystems that is resonant with current thinking in the fields of earth system science, geobiology, and planetology. Instead of organizing the subject around a hierarchical series of entities (e.g. genes, individuals, populations, species, communities, and the biosphere), the book provides an alternative process-based approach and proposes a truly planetary view of ecological science. It demonstrates how the idea of fundamental ecological processes can be developed at the systems level, specifically their involvement in control and feedback mechanisms. This enables the reader to reconsider fundamental ecological processes such as energy flow, guilds, trade-offs, carbon cycling, and photosynthesis, and to put them in a global (and even planetary) context. In so doing, the book places a much stronger emphasis on microorganisms.

Ultrafiltration Membrane Cleaning Processes Optimization in Seawater Desalination Plants

Free Download Guillem Gilabert-Oriol, "Ultrafiltration Membrane Cleaning Processes: Optimization in Seawater Desalination Plants"
English | ISBN: 3110715074 | 2021 | 180 pages | EPUB, PDF | 4 MB + 17 MB
This book covers the ultrafiltration membranes, specifically focusing on the elements that are produced using PVDF technology and out-side-in configuration. It specifically targets ultrafiltration technology as a pretreatment of seawater reverse osmosis desalination process. However, what is described in the book can be leveraged in other ultrafiltration membrane types. It explains how to significantly improve the efficiency of the process.

Tourism Planning Policies, Processes & Relationships

Free Download C. Michael Hall, "Tourism Planning: Policies, Processes & Relationships"
English | 2008 | pages: 321 | ISBN: 0132046520 | PDF | 26,0 mb
The new edition of this text is positioned – through its broad coverage, accessible style and presentation, and practical application – as the core learning resource for students of tourism planning. With an increased applied focus, a wider range of international case studies and examples, and two new chapters highlighting sustainability as a core tourism concern in the world today, the new edition will appeal across the spectrum of tourism students and practitioners from business and management and the social sciences. Tourism and Planning is an essential text for students on travel and tourism degrees and will be of key interest to students and practitioners in related fields including management, marketing, geography, development studies and regional planning.

Stochastic Calculus of Variations For Jump Processes Ed 3

Free Download Yasushi Ishikawa, "Stochastic Calculus of Variations: For Jump Processes Ed 3"
English | ISBN: 3110675285 | 2023 | 370 pages | EPUB, PDF | 56 MB + 6 MB
This book is a concise introduction to the stochastic calculus of variations for processes with jumps. The author provides many results on this topic in a self-contained way for e.g., stochastic differential equations (SDEs) with jumps. The book also contains some applications of the stochastic calculus for processes with jumps to the control theory, mathematical finance and so. This third and entirely revised edition of the work is updated to reflect the latest developments in the theory and some applications with graphics.

Random Matrices, Random Processes and Integrable Systems

Free Download Random Matrices, Random Processes and Integrable Systems by John Harnad
English | PDF | 2011 | 536 Pages | ISBN : 1441995137 | 6.3 MB
This book explores the remarkable connections between two domains that, a priori, seem unrelated: Random matrices (together with associated random processes) and integrable systems. The relations between random matrix models and the theory of classical integrable systems have long been studied. These appear mainly in the deformation theory, when parameters characterizing the measures or the domain of localization of the eigenvalues are varied. The resulting differential equations determining the partition function and correlation functions are, remarkably, of the same type as certain equations appearing in the theory of integrable systems. They may be analyzed effectively through methods based upon the Riemann-Hilbert problem of analytic function theory and by related approaches to the study of nonlinear asymptotics in the large N limit. Associated with studies of matrix models are certain stochastic processes, the "Dyson processes", and their continuum diffusion limits, which govern the spectrum in random matrix ensembles, and may also be studied by related methods.

Quantum Processes and Measurement Theory and Experiment

Free Download Quantum Processes and Measurement: Theory and Experiment
English | 2023 | ISBN: 1108477771 | 315 Pages | PDF | 6 MB
This accessible and self-contained text presents the essential theoretical techniques developed to describe quantum processes, alongside a detailed review of the devices and experimental methods required in quantum measurement. Ideal for advanced undergraduate and graduate students seeking to extend their knowledge of the physics underlying quantum technologies, the book develops a thorough understanding of quantum measurement theory, quantum processes and the evolution of quantum states. A wide range of basic quantum systems are discussed, including atoms, ions, photons, and more complex macroscopic quantum devices such as opto-mechanical systems and superconducting circuits. Quantum phenomena are also covered in detail, from entanglement and quantum jumps, to quantum fluctuations in optical systems. Numerous problems at the end of each chapter problems enable the reader to consolidate key theoretical concepts and to develop their understanding of the most widely-used experimental techniques.
