English | 2024 | ISBN: 1032456213 | 267 Pages | PDF (True) | 26 MB
When combined with artificial intelligence, advanced computing architectures and enhanced communications, sensor technologies can monitor vessel performance and the adjacent environment to detect conditions that may hinder voyage completion. This book provides insight into the present and future of sensor architectures and configurations that can enhance vessel performance and further improve the safety of navigation. It covers topics such as traditional and expanded sensor functions in engineering and navigation, as well as new sensor capabilities that can provide greater insight into vessel behavior and performance and enhance awareness of passenger, crew and other human activities. Chapters offer background information on typical legacy vessel sensor configurations and current International Maritime Organization (IMO) requirements for onboard sensors and future regulatory trends before discussing modern sensors and current- generation "smart" sensors that provide enhanced situational awareness to watchstanders. A vision of next- generation sensors currently being investigated for shipboard use is provided along with long- term trends in quantum sensing and computing that promise radical change across a wide variety of vessel functions. Insight is also given into cybersecurity factors so essential to all sensor systems. Ship Sensors: Conventional, Unmanned and Autonomous is ideal for professional seafarers, maritime academics and university students, and developers of maritime sensors and systems.

Defence Industry Applications of Autonomous Agents and Multi-Agent Systems

Free Download Defence Industry Applications of Autonomous Agents and Multi-Agent Systems By Alex Healing, Robert Ghanea-Hercock (auth.), Michal Pěchouček, Simon G. Thompson, Holger Voos (eds.)
2008 | 166 Pages | ISBN: 3764385707 | PDF | 7 MB
Defense and security related applications are increasingly being tackled by researchers and practioners using technologies developed in the field of Intelligent Agent research. This book is a collection of recent refereed papers drawn from workshops and other colloquia held in various venues around the world in the last two years. The contributions in this book describe work in the development of command and control systems, military communications systems, information systems, surveillance systems, autonomous vehicles, simulators and Human Computer Interactions. The broad nature of the application domain is matched by the diversity of techniques used in the papers that are included in the collection which provides, for the first time, an overview of the most significant work being performed by the leading workers in this area. It provides a single reference point for the state of the art in the field at the moment and will be of interest to Computer Science professionals working in the defense sector, and academics and students investigating the technology of Intelligent Agents that are curious to see how the technology is applied in practice.

Legal Aspects of Autonomous Systems A Comparative Approach

Free Download Legal Aspects of Autonomous Systems: A Comparative Approach
English | 2024 | ISBN: 3031479459 | 684 Pages | PDF EPUB (True) | 6 MB
As computational power, the volume of available data, IT systems’ autonomy, and the human-like capabilities of machines increase, robots and AI systems have substantial and growing implications for the law and raise a host of challenges to current legal doctrines. The main question to be answered is whether the foundations and general principles of private law and criminal law offer a functional and adaptive legal framework for the "autonomous systems" phenomena.

Dreams of disconnection From the autonomous house to self-sufficient territories

Free Download Fanny Lopez, "Dreams of disconnection: From the autonomous house to self-sufficient territories "
English | ISBN: 1526146894 | 2021 | 336 pages | PDF | 15 MB
Why do we live in homes and communities built around the century-old industrial model of large service networks that use polluting resources? For more than a century, creative architects and planners have dreamed of decentralisation and self-sufficient living, not to cut themselves off from society, but to invent new modes of consumption and to rethink collective public services around common environmental values.

Multiagent Coordination Enabling Autonomous Logistics

Free Download Multiagent Coordination Enabling Autonomous Logistics by Arne Schuldt
English | PDF (True) | 2011 | 284 Pages | ISBN : 3642200915 | 2.7 MB
This book describes the implementation of autonomous control with multiagent technology. Therewith, it tackles the challenges of supply network management caused by the complexity, the dynamics, and the distribution of logistics processes. The paradigm of autonomous logistics reduces the computational complexity and copes with the dynamics locally by delegating process control to the participating objects. As an example, shipping containers may themselves plan and schedule their way through logistics networks in accordance with objectives imposed by their owners. The technologies enabling autonomous logistics are thoroughly described and reviewed. The presented solution has been used in a realistic simulation of real-world container logistics processes. The validation shows that autonomous control is feasible and that it outperforms the previous centralised dispatching approach by significantly increasing the resource utilisation efficiency. Moreover, the multiagent system relieves human dispatchers from dealing with standard cases, giving them more time to solve exceptional cases appropriately.
