This book explores the intentions of its creators, recounts the effect of its satellite festivals all over Britain, and records how it transformed London’s South Bank with buildings such as the Royal Festival Hall and the futuristic Skylon, spawned the Miss World contest, introduced Britons to Scandinavian design and even offered them their first experience of soft lavatory paper.

Combine the surprising truth about brain food with the cutting-edge science of brain metabolism to achieve extraordinary emotional, cognitive, and physical health.
Are you struggling with attention problems, mood swings, food obsession, or depression? Whatever the issue, you have far more control over your thoughts, feelings, and behavior than you realize. Although medications may bring some relief, in Change Your Diet, Change Your Mind, Dr. Georgia Ede reveals that the most powerful way to change brain chemistry is with food, because that’s where brain chemicals come from in the first place.
In this provocative, illuminating guide, Dr. Ede explains why nearly everything we think we know about brain-healthy diets is wrong. We’ve been told the way to protect our brains is with superfoods, supplements, and plant-based diets rich in whole grains and legumes, but the science tells a different story: not only do these strategies often fail, but some can even work against us. The truth about brain food is that meat is not dangerous, vegan diets are not healthier, and antioxidants are not the answer.

Philosophical Reflections on Antiquity Historical Change

Free Download Paul Fairfield, "Philosophical Reflections on Antiquity: Historical Change"
English | ISBN: 1793614814 | 2020 | 266 pages | EPUB, PDF | 3 MB + 5 MB
Philosophical Reflections on Antiquity: Historical Change addresses the question of whether there is a logic of historical change, and whether the collapse of teleology should deter us from inquiring anew whether any recurring patterns and themes show themselves amid the complexity of historical life. Paul Fairfield argues that if any conception of universal history remains possible, it is one that rejects teleology and causal laws while identifying thematic tendencies that afford some semblance of unity, including the enduring phenomena that are interlocution, the struggle for predominance, and the endless back and forth that play out between them. This book examines the transitional periods of archaic Greece and late antiquity, the ostensible birth and death of the ancient west. Fairfield argues that an interpretation of the social, political, and intellectual history of these important turning points brings to light some philosophical understanding of the dynamics of change itself, observing that the transition from archaic to classical Greece was no miracle, while the end of the Roman era can no longer be conceived as a story of decline and fall. Rather, Fairfield posits, these were not complete breaks, but relative beginnings and endings in narratives that are ongoing. Scholars of philosophy, history, and anthropology will find this book particularly useful.

Climate Sense A Layman’s Guide to Climate Change

Free Download David Macfarlane, "Climate Sense: A Layman’s Guide to Climate Change"
English | 2019 | ISBN: 179445277X | EPUB | pages: 199 | 0.2 mb
Climate Sense takes readers on a fascinating journey, digging deep to explore the philosophy, psychology, politics, and science behind the modern ‘environmental’ movement of climate change. Explained in an easy-to-read entertaining style, the conclusion may surprise many, but it challenges the reader to become better informed and think deeply about this vitally important and increasingly controversial issue. Reviewed by American atmospheric physicist Dr Richard Lindzen (lead author of the IPCC’s Third Assessment Report on climate change), who wrote: "I loved your book. You seem to have successfully avoided the technical issues that befuddle non-scientists and have relied on logic and common sense (that also, alas, befuddle part of our elite, but are nonetheless more accessible to those with somewhat open minds)."
