The United States and Argentina Changing Relations in a Changing World

Free Download The United States and Argentina: Changing Relations in a Changing World By Deborah Lee Norden; Roberto Russell; Roberto Guillermo Russell
20002 | 167 Pages | ISBN: 0415932793 | PDF | 7 MB
Following a long history of conflict and distrust, the end of the Cold War witnessed the emergence of a strong friendship between the United States and Argentina. Historically one of the strongest and most independent countries of Latin America, Argentina developed a foreign policy during the post-Cold War period characterized by a strong allegiance to the United states. Deborah L. Norden and Roberto Russell show how Argentina’s economic and political instability encouraged the government to redefine U.S.-Argentina’s relations from prior patterns of animosity in order to improve the country’s international image and attract foreign support. Although unable to prevent Argentina’s renewed crisis in 2001, this shift nonetheless allowed the country to approach the crisis from a very different international position than previously. The United States and Argentina sets out to explore the nature of U.S.-Argentine relations by concentrating on the issues which have shaped and stood out in the dialogue between the two countries and how this shifting relationship has been played out in international institutions. — Back cover.

This book explores the purpose, role and function of the university and examines the disconnection between students’ approaches to learning and university strategy. It centres on the idea that it is vital to explore what counts as a university in the twenty-first century, what it is for, and for whom, as well as how it can transcend social divisions. The universities of the twenty-first century need to have larger audiences, a broader voice, a shift away from othering and an effective means of progressing such shifts. What is central to such exploration is the idea that learning needs to be seen as postdigital. 1996 | 365 Pages | ISBN: 0718500482 | PDF | 26 MB
The policy of systematic destruction of the cultural heritage in the Serbian-Bosnian-Croation war has led to the loss of many prehistoric and historic remains in Dalmatia. Since many of the sites can no longer be visited, this project, in the Zadar lowlands, represents the last chance for a generation to study the archaeological and paleo-environmental field remains of the largest and most fertile plain in the East Adriatic. The core fieldwork consisted of an intensive field survey of over 120 sq. km of lowland, trial excavations on six sites (from Neolthic to Roman) and soil investigations of the total surveyed area. One archive-based chapter discusses the history of the area in the early medieval and Ottoman periods. A project of immense value heightened by the tragic background against which it must now be read.
