English | PDF EPUB (True) | 2024 | 378 Pages | ISBN : 3031443926 | 12.7 MB
Lobbying is not only the subject of ongoing, heated debates in politics and the public sphere but has also been a focus of the social sciences for decades. This edited volume provides an overview of the current state of research on lobbying from the perspective of Public Choice as a subfield of political science and economics. After a brief introduction to the field, Part I provides an overview of basic concepts and political-economic theories of lobbying from the standpoints of various subfields of Public Choice. Subsequently, Part II investigates the various channels used by interest groups to influence policymakers, such as party donations, informational lobbying, hiring politicians, etc. These chapters also discuss the possibilities and limits of regulating the respective channels. Lastly, Part III sheds light on lobbying in selected regions (i.e., the United States, European Union, Russia, and China).

Anion Channels and Transporters

Free Download Anion Channels and Transporters by Christoph Fahlke
English | PDF EPUB (True) | 2024 | 368 Pages | ISBN : 3031513452 | 43.3 MB
This book provides an overview on recent progress in anion channels and transporters. It covers multiple scales of analysis ranging from studying the molecular basis of function at atomic resolution to cellular consequences to channel/transporter dysfunction and approaches to correct such processes by pharmacological intervention. Similar anion channels and transporters are expressed in multiple tissues – often fulfilling similar cellular tasks, but also clearly distinct functions. The aim is to combine work on multiple cell and organ systems.

Studies of Epithelial Transporters and Ion Channels Ion Channels and Transporters of Epithelia in Health and Disease – Vol. 3

Free Download Studies of Epithelial Transporters and Ion Channels: Ion Channels and Transporters of Epithelia in Health and Disease – Vol. 3, Second Edition by Kirk L. Hamilton
English | EPUB | 2020 | 1267 Pages | ISBN : 3030554538 | 115.4 MB
This book discusses unique ion channels and transporters that are located within epithelial tissues of various organs including the kidney, intestine, pancreas and respiratory tract. The authors will show, that each of these channels and transporters play crucial roles in transepithelial ion and fluid transport across epithelia and their responsibility in maintaining homeostasis. The reader gains an understanding of the fundamentals of epithelial ion transport, in terms of function, modelling, regulation, trafficking, structure and pharmacology. This is the third of three volumes highlighting the importance of epithelial ion channels and transporters in basic physiology and pathophysiology of human diseases.

Desert Channels [OP] The Impulse to Conserve

Free Download Desert Channels [OP]: The Impulse to Conserve by Libby Robin, Chris Dickman, Mandy Martin
English | August 26, 2011 | ISBN: 9780643103535 | 352 pages | EPUB | 39 Mb
Desert Channels is a book that combines art, science and history to explore the impulse to conserve in the distinctive Desert Channels country of south-western Queensland. The region is the source of Australia’s major inland-flowing desert rivers. Some of Australia’s most interesting new conservation initiatives are in this region, including partnerships between private landholders, non-government conservation organizations that buy and manage land (including Bush Heritage Australia and the Australian Wildlife Conservancy) and community-based natural resource management groups such as Desert Channels Queensland.

Voltage-gated Ca2+ Channels Pharmacology, Modulation and their Role in Human Disease

Free Download Voltage-gated Ca2+ Channels: Pharmacology, Modulation and their Role in Human Disease by Jörg Striessnig
English | PDF EPUB (True) | 2023 | 319 Pages | ISBN : 3031384369 | 32.8 MB
The aim of this volume is to summarize novel findings on the function, pathophysiology, and regulation of voltage-gated Ca2+ channels and on novel concepts of their pharmacological modulation. Impressive insights into the role of channel function and regulation have come from Ca2+ channelopathies affecting the pore-forming as well as accessory subunits and channel-interacting proteins. Moreover, the long-sought molecular basis for key regulatory pathways have been discovered as well as exciting concepts of their subtype-selective pharmacological modulation.

Textbook of Ion Channels Three Volume Set

Free Download Textbook of Ion Channels: Three Volume Set
English | 2023 | ISBN: 1032424281 | 702 Pages | PDF (True) | 385 MB
The Textbook of Ion Channels is a set of three volumes providing a wide-ranging reference source on ion channels for students, instructors, and researchers. Ion channels are membrane proteins that control the electrical properties of neurons and cardiac cells, mediate the detection and response to sensory stimuli like light, sound, odor, and taste, and regulate the response to physical stimuli like temperature and pressure. In non-excitable tissues, ion channels are instrumental for the regulation of basic salt balance that is critical for homeostasis. Ion channels are located at the surface membrane of cells, giving them the unique ability to communicate with the environment, as well as the membrane of intracellular organelles, allowing them to regulate internal homeostasis. Ion channels are fundamentally important for human health and diseases, and are important targets for pharmaceuticals in mental illness, heart disease, anesthesia, pain and other clinical applications. The modern methods used in their study are powerful and diverse, ranging from single ion-channel measurement techniques to models of ion channel diseases in animals, and human clinical trials for ion channel drugs.
