Quantum Tunneling in Complex Systems The Semiclassical Approach

Free Download Quantum Tunneling in Complex Systems: The Semiclassical Approach by Joachim Ankerhold
English | PDF | 2007 | 220 Pages | ISBN : 3540680748 | 4.2 MB
In the last two decades remarkable progress has been made in understanding and describing tunneling processes in complex systems in terms of classical trajectories. This book introduces recent concepts and achievements with particular emphasis on a dynamical formulation and relations to specific systems in mesoscopic, molecular, atomic and nuclear physics. Advanced imaginary time techniques, e.g. for decay rates and tunnel splittings, are discussed in the first part. The second part covers current developments for wave-packet tunneling in real-time, and the third part describes thermodynamical and nonequilibrium approaches for barrier transmission in dissipative systems.

The Economy as a Complex System of Economic Actions In Search of a New Paradigm

Free Download The Economy As a Complex System of Economic Actions: in Search of a New Paradigm
by Leiashvily, Paata;

English | 2023 | ISBN: 979-8886979091 | 228 pages | True PDF | 32.85 MB
Based on a dialectical analysis of purposeful activity, a decentralized economy is presented as a complex nonlinear living system of economic actions. In such an economy, the general laws of the universe, which dialectics and synergetics studies, manifest themselves in a specific form. This allows us to see many well-known economic phenomena in an unusual light and to discover in them what cannot be detected by standard methods of orthodox theory. The monograph presents a system of concepts, based on which the fundamentally new interpretation of how the market economy functions and how it has evolved from its inception to the present is given. It is shown that behind the external chaos of economic life hiding surprisingly ordered, symmetrical, deep structures that provide self-regulation of a competitive market economy. Like all living systems, the economy is developing, which results in the monopolization and financialization of the economy. But over time, it loses the ability to self-regulate. Regulation becomes necessary, because of which the role of centralization of the economy increases. The search for new methods of regulating such an economy becomes inevitable.

Syria Divided Patterns of Violence in a Complex Civil War

by Szekely, Ora;

English | 2023 | ISBN: 0231205384 | 295 pages | True PDF | 8.68 MB
The civil war in Syria―which has claimed more than 600,000 lives and displaced over half of the country’s population since 2011―is an enormously complex conflict. The combatants include a wide array of state and nonstate forces, both Syrian and international. Adding to the war’s complexity, its many participants understand and explain the war in a range of different ways. For some, it is a fight for dignity and democracy; for others, a sectarian or communal conflict; still others see it as a fight against terrorism or a consequence of foreign interference.

Modeling and Simulation of Complex Collective Systems

Free Download Modeling and Simulation of Complex Collective Systems
by Jarosław Wąs

English | 2023 | ISBN: 1032539003 | 133 pages | True PDF | 24.73 MB
Providing a comprehensive overview of the modeling of complex systems, with particular emphasis on the collective aspects of these systems, this book situates itself at the forefront of available literature. Exemplifying practically Wolfram’s theses found in A New Kind of Science, discussions center on where it is best to use a cellular automaton, when it is reasonable to use a hybrid approach, and when it is best to use a traditional method such as one based on differential equations. A range of fascinating examples are discussed, ranging from models of crowd dynamics, car traffic, downhill skiers and oil spreading across the sea surface. All are discussed and illustrated with comments. These examples explore how simple rules can create incredibly complex patterns and are used to compare cellular automata with more traditional methods. This book is of critical importance to students and lecturers interested in complex system modeling as well as containing translatable techniques that have applications in a wide range of fields

Driving Behavior Managing Resources in a Complex Task

Free Download Driving Behavior: Managing Resources in a Complex Task
by Alfred T. Lee

English | 2023 | ISBN: 1032431806 | 190 pages | True PDF | 8.42 MB
In the U.S., drivers over the age of 65 now account for nearly 20% of licensed drivers. This number will increase by 25% to nearly 70 million by the year 2030. Some of these older drivers may not be capable of operating their vehicles safely in all conditions. The book investigates the key aspects of driving tasks and their relation to the sensory, perceptual, motor, and cognitive processes. Effects on driving performance, including aging, are described with a view toward improving future vehicle and road design as well as driver training and evaluation.

Complex Function Theory (Basic Mathematics)

by Takeo Fujiwara

English | 2023 | ISBN: 9811271321 | 291 pages | True PDF | 5.23 MB
The basics of complex functions will be explained for students of Engineering Sciences, with the aim of being able to use "complex function theory" as a tool. The goal is not rigor as mathematics, but ease of use that may suit the application. Explanations are based on concrete examples rather than abstract general theory. The book starts from very beginning of complex numbers, and extends theory of Introduction to Elliptic Function and Hypergeometric Differential Equations.

A Friendly Approach to Complex Analysis, 2nd Edition

by Sara Maad Sasane & Amol Sasane

English | 2023 | ISBN: 9811272808 | 219 pages | True PDF | 10.42 MB
The book constitutes a basic, concise, yet rigorous first course in complex analysis, for undergraduate students who have studied multivariable calculus and linear algebra. The textbook should be particularly useful for students of joint programmes with mathematics, as well as engineering students seeking rigour. The aim of the book is to cover the bare bones of the subject with minimal prerequisites. The core content of the book is the three main pillars of complex analysis: the Cauchy-Riemann equations, the Cauchy Integral Theorem, and Taylor and Laurent series. Each section contains several problems, which are not drill exercises, but are meant to reinforce the fundamental concepts. Detailed solutions to all the 243 exercises appear at the end of the book, making the book ideal for self-study. There are many figures illustrating the text.
