Coatings for High-Temperature Environments

Free Download Coatings for High-Temperature Environments: Anti-Corrosion and Anti-Wear Applications
English | 2024 | ISBN: 3031455339 | 433 Pages | PDF (True) | 15 MB
This book addresses the recent trends in high-temperature coatings that are used to provide oxidation and wear resistance to metallic/ceramic components in extreme environments. Ceramics, intermetallics, organosilicon polymers, cermets, and other materials with great thermal stability have long been recognized for these applications. This book introduces the state of the art in coating materials and processes for high-temperature environments and identifies areas for improvement in materials selection, performance upgrades, design considerations, and manufacturing methods. The book covers a variety of high-temperature coatings prepared through various synthesis processes such as thermal spraying, physical vapor deposition, electrodeposition, and sol-gel methods. It covers corrosion/oxidation, phase stability, and thermal and mechanical behavior of high-temperature coating materials having greater thermal stability.

Online retailers have gained massive popularity in recent years, plunging large parts of brick-and-mortar retail into an existential crisis. In order to survive in times of growing online retail, brick-and-mortar retailers must become aware of their unique potential to address non-digitizable consumer needs and transform retail environments into places of experience and discovery. A key building block for achieving this aim lies in the creation of sensory experiences that motivate consumers to enter and linger in stationary retail environments.

Coherent Evolution in Noisy Environments

Free Download Coherent Evolution in Noisy Environments by Andreas Buchleitner, Klaus Hornberger
English | PDF | 2002 | 304 Pages | ISBN : 3540443541 | 3.9 MB
In the last two decades extraordinary progress in the experimental handling of single quantum objects has spurred theoretical research into investigating the coupling between quantum systems and their environment. Decoherence, the gradual deterioration of entanglement due to dissipation and noise fed to the system by the environment, has emerged as a central concept. The present set of lectures is intended as a high-level, but self-contained, introduction into the fields of quantum noise and dissipation. In particular their influence on decoherence and applications pertaining to quantum information and quantum communication are studied, leading the nonspecialist researchers and the advanced students gradually to the forefront of research.

Photovoltaic Technology for Hot and Arid Environments

The need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and dependency on fossil fuels necessitates accelerated deployment of renewable energy, such as photovoltaics (PV). Regions with high insolation in the "Sun Belt" covering north Africa and the middle east, as well as in Australia, parts of Latin America, and elsewhere offer tremendous potential for PV, including for green hydrogen production. However, these regions are characterized by a hot climate and a dusty environment, both causing reduction of PV panel performance by 25% or more. The development of solar cells with enhanced resistance to thermal degradation and the reduction of panel soiling have therefore been subjects of intense study. Key developments include optimisation of the temperature coefficient of heterojunction solar cells, developing cells of higher open circuit voltage that are expected to show lower reduction of the panel efficiency at high temperatures, and analysis of soiling effects for better predictability and countermeasures. Based in part on research undertaken at Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute (QEERI), and with contributions from chapter authors from a range of international institutions, this book addresses recent trends and developments in its field. Chapters revise solar energy resources and PV principles and thermodynamics, solar cell and module technology, bifacial solar cells, and soiling. A case study from Australia is followed by conclusions and future outlooks. Photovoltaic Technology for Hot and Arid Environments covers developments in the field for researchers and experts in industry and academia, and advanced students with an interest in the topic.
