Randomized Controlled Trials in Evidence-Based Dentistry

Free Download Randomized Controlled Trials in Evidence-Based Dentistry
English | 2024 | ISBN: 3031476506 | 285 Pages | PDF EPUB (True) | 5 MB
This book reviews the role of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) in clinical dentistry, explains how to successfully conduct RCTs related to dentistry, and provides detailed information on the use of RCTs within each of the dental specialties. Although RCTs represent the gold standard in evidence-based dentistry for evaluation of the effects of an intervention, a textbook on the subject has to date been lacking. Randomized Controlled Trials in Evidence-Based Dentistry will fill this educational gap and improve the confidence of dental providers, researchers, and their multidisciplinary teams in conducting high-quality RCTs in a variety of settings and different parts of the world. In particular, it will enable readers to implement a suitable step-by-step approach to RCTs, identify possible solutions to common challenges when performing RCTs in individual dental specialties, and apply these solutions to their own RCT projects.

R&D Management Practices and Innovation Evidence from a Firm Survey

Free Download Shoko Haneda, "R&D Management Practices and Innovation: Evidence from a Firm Survey "
English | ISBN: 9811697965 | 2022 | 112 pages | PDF | 1469 KB
This Open Access book provides a detailed account of firms’ research and development (R&D) management practices, and whether and how R&D management practices are associated with the success and the nature (explorative or exploitive) of innovation, using a unique survey of firms in Japan. While there is wide agreement that innovation is a key determinant for growth of firms, there are few studies that systematically and quantitatively investigate what firms do in their R&D management to create innovation. Utilizing insights from theoretical and empirical studies on innovation, the authors focus on the following four aspects of R&D management: the organizational structure of R&D, staged project management for R&D projects, compensation and incentive schemes for R&D personnel, and a firm’s risk preferences and corporate culture. The authors examine whether and how R&D management practices are linked to the likelihood of firms’ success in making product innovations and the choice between explorative and exploitive innovation. The book furnishes vital information that can be used as a reference for future theoretical and empirical analyses of R&D management practices and innovation. This monograph is highly recommended to academics and practitioners who seek an in-depth and detailed analysis of R&D management.

Psychotherapy Relationships That Work Evidence-Based Responsiveness

Free Download Psychotherapy Relationships That Work: Evidence-Based Responsiveness By John C. Norcross
2011 | 456 Pages | ISBN: 0199737207 | PDF | 3 MB
First published in 2002, the landmark Psychotherapy Relationships That Work broke new ground by focusing renewed and corrective attention on the substantial research behind the crucial (but often overlooked) client-therapist relationship. This thoroughly revised edition brings a decade of additional research to the same task. In addition to updating each chapter, the second edition features new chapters on the effectiveness of the alliance with children and adolescents, the alliance in couples and family therapy, real-time feedback from clients, patient preferences, culture, and attachment style. The new editon provides "two books in one"–one on evidence-based relationship elements and one on evidence-based methods of adapting treatment to the individual patient. Each chapter features a specific therapist behavior that improves treatment outcome, or a transdiagnostic patient characteristic (such as reactance, preferences, culture, stage of change) by which clinicians can effectively tailor psychotherapy. All chapters provide original, comprehensive meta-analyses of the relevant research; clinical examples, and research-supported therapeutic practices by distinguished contributors. The result is a compelling synthesis of the best available research, clinical expertise, and patient characteristics in the tradition of evidence-based practice. The second edition of Psychotherapy Relationships That Work: Evidence-Based Responsiveness proves indispensible for any mental health professional.Reviews of the First Edition:"A veritable gold mine of research related to relationships, this is a volume that should be an invaluable reference for every student and practitioner of psychotherapy."–Psychotherapy "This is a MUST READ for any researcher, clinician, or counselor who is genuinely interested in the active ingredients of effective psychotherapy and who appreciates the importance of applying empirical evidence to the therapy relationship."–Arnold A. Lazarus, Ph.D., Distinguished Professor Emeritus, Rutgers University"Psychotherapy Relationships That Work is a superb contemporary textbook and reference source for students and professionals seeking to expand their knowledge and understanding of person-related psychotherapy."–Psychotherapy Research "One is struck with the thoroughness of all the chapters and the care and detail of presentation."–Brief Treatment and Crisis Intervention

Israel in Egypt The Evidence for the Authenticity of the Exodus Tradition

Free Download Israel in Egypt: The Evidence for the Authenticity of the Exodus Tradition By James K. Hoffmeier
1997 | 280 Pages | ISBN: 0195097157 | PDF | 18 MB
Scholars of the Hebrew Bible have in the last decade begun to question the historical accuracy of the Israelite sojourn in Egypt, as described in the book of Exodus. The reason for the rejection of the exodus tradition is said to be the lack of historical and archaeological evidence in Egypt. Those advancing these claims, however, are not specialists in the study of Egyptian history, culture, and archaeology. In this pioneering book, author James Hoffmeier examines the most current Egyptological evidence and argues that it supports the biblical record concerning Israel in Egypt. Hoffmeier begins his study with a methodological critique of the "minimalist" position and examines the biblical traditions themselves, with special attention to source-critical issues. He then considers the evidence from recent excavations in the Nile Delta which reveal the presence of a large Semitic population during the period 1650-1525 B.C. and argues that the Hebrews could have been one distinct ethnic group among these expatriates. Drawing on extra-biblical texts, inscriptions, artifacts, and recent infrared satellite photographs, Hoffmeier provides a convincing reconstruction of the Israelite sojourn. He defends the plausibility of the Joseph story and discusses the role of Moses in history. Finally, he traces the probable route of the Exodus itself.

Geriatric Medicine an evidence-based approach

Free Download Christine Roffe, "Geriatric Medicine: an evidence-based approach"
English | ISBN: 0199689644 | 2014 | 180 pages | EPUB | 790 KB
People are living longer and the population over the age of 60 is burgeoning, with repercussions for health services and healthcare expenditure in developed countries. Crucially, disease aetiology, diagnosis, and treatment in older people differ from the general adult population. Older people often have complicated co-morbidities and respond to treatment in different ways compared to younger people. Evidence of efficacy of different treatments is often lacking because older people are under-represented in clinical trials, and the specific needs of older people are rarely discussed specifically in more general texts. Geriatric medicine: an evidence based approach is a clinical reference for health care professionals who manage older patients, and summarizes up-to-date research literature in a style that can be directly applied by busy healthcare professionals and provide a useful resource for reference.
