This is a unique collection of two of the Inklings and their literary associates views on the negative impacts of technology in various areas of life and the resolution of these impacts through fellowship with others and faith in the Creator. Some of these essays offer suggestions on how ensnarement by social media and surrender to modern technology can be countered by surrender to God. Other essays also demonstrate how the significant literary craft of these authors can enchant readers and invite them into fairylands from which they return empowered and with a keener spiritual vision to tackle universal and present concerns.

‘Faith’ is a fine invention Dickinson’s Performance of Doubt and Belief

Free Download Regina Yoong, ""’Faith’ is a fine invention": Dickinson’s Performance of Doubt and Belief"
English | ISBN: 981999683X | 2024 | 148 pages | EPUB, PDF | 313 KB + 1532 KB
This book covers nineteenth-century American poet Emily Dickinson who captured the multifaceted nature of life in all of its uncertainties. Studies on her exploration of faith are ample, but in this book, the author uncovers Dickinson’s playful role-play in enacting solemn themes of religion, death, and the unknown. Dickinson’s creativity encompasses not only her use of language but also her poetic personae and self-created poetic stages inviting readers to question, contemplate deeply or even poke fun at life’s absurdities. By using performative roles such as the rejected outcast, passive supplicant, and playful warrior, Dickinson unveils-through a paradoxical framework of belief and unbelief- a line of inquiry that is multifocal and erratic to "tell all the truth and tell it slant."

The Analogy of Faith The Quest for God’s Speakability (Strategic Initiatives in Evangelical Theology)

Free Download Archie J. Spencer, "The Analogy of Faith: The Quest for God’s Speakability (Strategic Initiatives in Evangelical Theology)"
English | 2015 | pages: 447 | ISBN: 0830840680 | PDF | 7,6 mb
If God is transcendent, how can human beings speak meaningfully about him? For centuries philosophers and theologians have asked whether and how it is possible to talk about God. The shared answer to this question goes by the name of "analogy," which recognizes both similarity and difference between the divine being and human language. In the twentieth century, Karl Barth, Erich Przywara, Hans Urs von Balthasar and Eberhard Jüngel explored this question in new and controversial ways that continue to shape contemporary debates in theology. In The Analogy of Faith: The Quest for God’s Speakability, Archie Spencer examines the problem of analogy in its ancient, medieval and modern forms. He argues for a Christological version of Barth?s analogy of faith, informed by Jüngel’s analogy of advent, as the way forward for Protestant theology in answering the problem of God’s speakability.
