Geometric functions in computer aided geometric design

Free Download Geometric functions in computer aided geometric design by Oscar Ruiz, Carlos Cadavid
English | June 24, 2020 | ISBN: 9587200160 | 150 pages | MOBI | 4.90 Mb
It is usual that existing material on computer aided geometric design oscillates between over-simplification for programmers and practitioners and over formalism for scientific or academic readers. The first type of publications suppresses the taxonomy and properties of the mathematical concepts discussed when seeking straightforward notation and procedures. The second type of materials in thorough in the mathematical concepts at the expense of increasingly complicated notation and sacrifice of clear procedures for the reader. This book intends to be a compromise between the aforementioned extremes. It recalls basic concepts on functions, relations, transformations, matrices and groups and makes evident their impact in the engineering properties of projections, rotations, translations, perspectives, and so on. The material is of interest for computer scientists and electrical, mechanical, production, mathematical and physics engineers. In particular, it gives valuable insight into robotics, computer vision, design, manufacturing, kinematics and dynamics from a practical point of view while keeping contact whit the underlying decisive mathematical properties of the objects and transformations handled. The exercises and examples discussed in this book were stated, solved, documented and illustrated under the supervision of professors Oscar Ruiz and Carlos Cadavid during the years 2004 to 2007. Scenarios for such a work were the courses introduction to CAD CAM Systems and Geometric Modeling and the activities in the CAD CAM CAE laboratory at EAFIT University. This book intends to be a compromise between the aforementioned extremes. The Functions of Unnatural Death in Stephen King Murder, Sickness, and Descriptions

Free Download Rebecca Frost, "The Functions of Unnatural Death in Stephen King: Murder, Sickness, and Descriptions"
English | ISBN: 179364621X | 2022 | 208 pages | EPUB | 12 MB
The Functions of Unnatural Death in Stephen King: Murder, Sickness, and Descriptions examines over thirty of King’s works and looks at the character deaths within them, placing them first within the chronology of the Description and then assigning them a function. Death is horrific and perhaps the only universal horror because it comes to us all. Stephen King, known as the Master of Horror, rarely writes without including death in his works. However, he keeps death from being repetitious or fully expected because of the ways in which he plays with the subject, maintaining what he himself has called a childlike approach to death. Although character deaths are a constant, the narrative function of those deaths changes depending on their placement within the Description.

The Nature and Functions of Dreaming

Free Download Ernest Hartmann M.D., "The Nature and Functions of Dreaming"
English | 2010 | pages: 176 | ISBN: 0199751773, 019936284X | PDF | 0,8 mb
iThe Nature and Function of Dreamingi presents a comprehensive theory of dreaming based on many years of psychological and biological research by Ernest Hartmann and others. Critical to this theory is the concept of a Central Image; in this volume, Hartmann describes his repeated finding that dreams of being swept away by a tidal wave are common among people who have recently experienced a trauma of some kind – a fire, an attack, or a rape. Dreams with these Central Images are not dreams of the traumatic experience itself, but rather the Central Image reveals the emotional response to the experience. Dreams with a potent Central Image, like the tidal wave, vary in intensity along with the severity of the trauma; this pattern was shown quite powerfully in a systematic study of dreams occuring before and after the September 11 attacks in New York.
