In recent years, the integrated research on living organisms initiated by systems biology, along with the efforts of precision medicine to tailor treatment plans based on the individual characteristics of each patient, have opened up the process of modern biology and medicine returning to the ideas of Chinese medical traditions. Under the larger perspective of the development and evolution of Eastern and Western medicine, biology, and even natural science for hundreds of years, this book follows the evolution of modern scientific methods and reveals the inevitable trend of future medicine―holistic medicine. Holistic medicine is a medical system that fully integrates Chinese and Western medical methods and knowledge systems and conforms to scientific norms. It is an evidence-based medicine that embodies the holistic concept and individualized principles. This book outlines the method and theoretical framework of holistic medicine, and provides the method of constructing the theoretical system and using it to achieve the best regulation of diseases. It can be expected that holistic medicine will become the mainstream medicine in the 21st century.

Design to Value The architecture of holistic design and creative technology

Free Download Design to Value: The architecture of holistic design and creative technology by Mark Bryden, John Dyson, Jaimie Johnston
English | December 3, 2022 | ISBN: 1914124006 | 304 pages | MOBI | 28 Mb
What opportunities does Design to Value afford the built environment? Design to Value is a commitment to process above all else. Well understood and applied in the manufacturing industries, its potential is only now starting to be realised in architecture, engineering and construction. It challenges designers to lead the way in creating more innovative and stakeholder-centric analyses, workflows, construction techniques and products. Through architectural thinking, value in the built environment can be maximised. Seeking to create deep and lasting impacts on industry, society and the planet, Design to Value rejects architecture’s current professional services model. The design and delivery stages of traditional procurement routes are not sustainable, and Design to Value outlines a new path for informed design processes. Bryden Wood, leading international expert in Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) and the Platform approach to Design for Manufacture and Assembly (P-DfMA), has spent the last fifteen years developing Design to Value as part of a new framework for the future of the design and construction industry. In this essential book, the practice challenges architects and the wider industry to think differently about how value is generated, enhanced and retained in the built realm, providing a method that will improve outcomes for architects, clients, industries and society. Architects must bend and break habitual processes to build better systems, better buildings and better futures. Features:Over 125 images, including photographs, sketches and diagramsOver 20 international case studies, including those from Canada, France, India, Italy, Japan, Saudi Arabia and USAProjects from leading practices, such as Atelier Bow-Wow, BIG, David Miller Architects, Kieran Timberlake and Lacaton & Vassal, as well as Bryden Wood.

A Holistic Perspective on Harold Pinter’s Drama

Free Download Aslı Tekinay, "A Holistic Perspective on Harold Pinter’s Drama"
English | ISBN: 1527551628 | 2023 | 139 pages | PDF | 3 MB
This book provides a holistic approach to Harold Pinter’s plays, from his first play, The Room (1957), to his last play, Celebration (1999). The book is divided into three chapters, organized thematically. The first chapter discusses the early plays―the so-called comedies of menace―concerning the central tropes of secluded settings, intrusion from the outside, and disintegration of the self. The next chapter analyzes Pinter’s memory plays, concentrating on how characters shelter themselves from intrusions through silences and lies. The third chapter examines power games and abuse of power in political plays. The book contributes to the field of Pinter studies by pursuing the thematic, linguistic, and formal elements integral to his aesthetic productions, and delineates the properties that serve as constants in Pinter’s dramatic oeuvre, thus justifying the term Pinteresque: pauses and silences, subtext, anxiety, violence, menace, vulnerability, victimization, intrusion, and power games. The discussions highlight the presence of a solid foundation for his drama―such as his conviction that the past is in the present―and connect all the plays to one another.
