Mathematics of Multidimensional Seismic Imaging, Migration, and Inversion

Free Download Mathematics of Multidimensional Seismic Imaging, Migration, and Inversion by N. Bleistein , J. W. Stockwell , J. K. Cohen
English | PDF | 2001 | 537 Pages | ISBN : 0387950613 | 48 MB
In the last 40 years geophysicists have found that it is possible to construct images and even determine important physical characteristics of rocks that can yield information about oil and gas bearing structures in the earth. To make these images and extract this information requires the application of an advanced understanding of the mathematical physics of wave propagation. The oil and gas industry labels a major collection of the necessary seismic data processing methods by the name seismic "migration".

Multidimensional Residue Theory and Applications

Free Download Alekos Vidras, Alain Yger, "Multidimensional Residue Theory and Applications"
English | ISBN: 1470471124, 9781470471125| 2023 | 533 pages | PDF | 9 MB
Residue theory is an active area of complex analysis with connections and applications to fields as diverse as partial differential and integral equations, computer algebra, arithmetic or diophantine geometry, and mathematical physics. Multidimensional Residue Theory and Applications defines and studies multidimensional residues via analytic continuation for holomorphic bundle-valued current maps. This point of view offers versatility and flexibility to the tools and constructions proposed, allowing these residues to be defined and studied outside the classical case of complete intersection. The book goes on to show how these residues are algebraic in nature, and how they relate and apply to a wide range of situations, most notably to membership problems, such as the Briançon-Skoda theorem and Hilbert’s Nullstellensatz, to arithmetic intersection theory and to tropical geometry.

Multidimensional Item Response Theory

Free Download Wes Bonifay, "Multidimensional Item Response Theory "
English | ISBN: 1506384250 | 2020 | 152 pages | PDF | 10 MB
Several decades of psychometric research have led to the development of sophisticated models for multidimensional test data, and in recent years, multidimensional item response theory (MIRT) has become a burgeoning topic in psychological and educational measurement. Considered a cutting-edge statistical technique, the methodology underlying MIRT can be complex, and therefore doesn’t receive much attention in introductory IRT courses. However author Wes Bonifay shows how MIRT can be understood and applied by anyone with a firm grounding in unidimensional IRT modeling. His volume includes practical examples and illustrations, along with numerous figures and diagrams.

This volume contains the proceedings of the 2022 iteration of the ISPGAYA meeting, titled "Multidimensional Sustainability: Transitions and Convergences" and held on September 29 and 30th, 2022 in Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal. The conference and resulting book intend to explore the involvement of Portugal, a country on the semi-periphery of the world system, in developments regarding the understanding of and progress toward sustainability. The conference was organized by ISPGAYA, an institution belonging to the private polytechnic higher education system in Portugal, and brought together participants from around the world. This volume intends to establish a milestone in the multidimensional approach to the theme of sustainability, affirming the concept’s multi- and interdisciplinary nature and bringing together scholars across disciplines.

Multidimensional Signals and Systems

Free Download Multidimensional Signals and Systems: Theory and Foundations
English | 2023 | ISBN: 3031265130 | 902 Pages | PDF EPUB (True) | 45 MB
This book covers the theory of multidimensional signals and systems and related practical aspects. It extends the properties and mathematical tools of one-dimensional signals and systems to multiple dimensions and covers relevant timeless topics including multidimensional transformations, multidimensional sampling as well as discrete multidimensional systems. A special emphasis is placed on physical systems described by partial differential equations, the construction of suitable integral transformations and the implementation of the corresponding discrete-time algorithms. To this end, signal spaces and functional transformations are introduced at a mathematical level provided by undergraduate programs in engineering and science.

Multidimensional Processing of Video Signals

Free Download Multidimensional Processing of Video Signals by Giovanni L. Sicuranza, Sanjit K. Mitra
English | PDF | 1992 | 191 Pages | ISBN : 0792392280 | 22.4 MB
A color time-varying image can be described as a three-dimensional vector (representing the colors in an appropriate color space) defined on a three-dimensional spatiotemporal space. In conventional analog television a one-dimensional signal suitable for transmission over a communication channel is obtained by sampling the scene in the vertical and tem poral directions and by frequency-multiplexing the luminance and chrominance informa tion. In digital processing and transmission systems, sampling is applied in the horizontal direction, too, on a signal which has been already scanned in the vertical and temporal directions or directly in three dimensions when using some solid-state sensor. As a conse quence, in recent years it has been considered quite natural to assess the potential advan tages arising from an entire multidimensional approach to the processing of video signals. As a simple but significant example, a composite color video signal, such as the conven tional PAL or NTSC signal, possesses a three-dimensional spectrum which, by using suitable three-dimensional filters, permits horizontal sampling at a rate which is less than that re quired for correctly sampling the equivalent one-dimensional signal. More recently it has been widely recognized that the improvement of the picture quality in current and advanced television systems requires well-chosen signal processing algorithms which are multidimen sional in nature within the demanding constraints of a real-time implementation.
