Persino Confindustria e la Banca d’Italia, da sempre sensibili al tema della moderazione salariale, non oppongono resistenza: è tutto molto strano. Davvero si pensa di poter porre rimedio a trent’anni di attacchi al lavoro con un colpo di bacchetta magica? In questo libro Savino Balzano, forte della sua esperienza di sindacalista, mette in luce come lo strumento del salario minimo legale non abbia alcuna possibilità di risolvere i problemi radicali e profondissimi che hanno causato il crollo dei salari in Italia. Anzi, tutto induce a ritenere che una legge potrebbe provocare effetti persino controproducenti, livellando verso il basso le retribuzioni di coloro i quali oggi sono sopra la soglia minima prevista. Come sottolinea Lidia Undiemi nella sua prefazione: Introdurre il salario minimo legale senza mettere in discussione la supremazia delle politiche neoliberiste significa porre le basi per una ulteriore spinta verso la diffusione di lavori precari e malpagati. Per Balzano è sulle cause, storiche e recenti, che bisogna soffermarsi a riflettere per individuare una soluzione, tutt’altro che semplice o facile, al problema. Ecco lo scopo di questo agile e illuminante pamphlet: sfatare i miti, individuare le trappole, smascherare gli impostori, per indicare una via alternativa che necessiterà dell’impegno e dello sforzo di tutti.
