Semigroups of Linear and Nonlinear Operations and Applications

Free Download Semigroups of Linear and Nonlinear Operations and Applications: Proceedings of the Curaçao Conference, August 1992 by Gisèle Ruiz Goldstein, Jerome A. Goldstein
English | PDF | 1993 | 280 Pages | ISBN : 0792325605 | 17.3 MB
This is the first publication which follows an agreement by Kluwer ✅Publishers with the Caribbean Mathematics Foundation (CMF), to publish the proceedings of its mathematical activities. To which one should add a disclaimer of sorts, namely that this volume is not the first in a series, because it is not first, and be cause neither party to the agreement construes these publications as elements of a series. Like the work of CMF, the arrangement between it and Kluwer ✅Publishers, evolved gradually, empirically. CMF was created in 1988, and inaugurated with a conference on Ordered Algebraic Structures. Every year since there have been gatherings on a variety of mathematical topics: Locales and Topological Groups in 1989; Positive Operators in 1990; Finite Geometry and Abelian Groups in 1991; Semigroups of Operators last year. It should be stressed, however that in preparing for the first conference, there was no plan which might have augured what came after. One could say that one thing led to another, and one would be right enough.

Multivalued Analysis and Nonlinear Programming Problems with Perturbations (2024)

Free Download B. Luderer, L. Minchenko, T. Satsura, "Multivalued Analysis and Nonlinear Programming Problems with Perturbations"
English | 2003 | ISBN: 1441952365, 1402010591 | DJVU | pages: 217 | 1.5 mb
This book is concerned with topological and differential properties of multivalued mappings and marginal functions. Beside this applica- tions to the sensitivity analysis of optimization problems, in particular nonlinear programming problems with perturbations, are studied. The elaborated methods are primarily obtained by theories and concepts of two former Soviet Union researchers, Demyanov and Rubinov. Con- sequently, a significant part of the presented results have never been published in English before. Based on the use of directional derivatives as a key tool in studying nonsmooth functions and multifunctions, these results can be considered as a further development of quasidifferential calculus created by Demyanov and Rubinov. In contrast to other research in this field, especially the recent publica- tion by Bonnans and Shapiro, this book analyses properties of marginal functions associated with optimization problems under quite general con- straints defined by means of multivalued mappings. A unified approach to directional differentiability of functions and multifunctions forms the base of the volume.

Weakly Nonlinear Systems With Applications in Communications Systems

Free Download Weakly Nonlinear Systems: With Applications in Communications Systems by Federico Beffa
English | PDF EPUB (True) | 2023 | 376 Pages | ISBN : 303140680X | 30.4 MB
The book covers a large class of nonlinear systems with many practical engineering applications. The approach is based on the extension of linear systems theory using the Volterra series. In contrast to the few existing treatments, our approach highlights the algebraic structure underlying such systems and is based on Schwartz’s distributions (rather than functions). The use of distributions leads naturally to the convolution algebras of linear time-invariant systems and the ones suitable for weakly nonlinear systems emerge as simple extensions to higher order distributions, without having to resort to ad hoc operators. The result is a much-simplified notation, free of multiple integrals, a conceptual simplification, and the ability to solve the associated nonlinear differential equations in a purely algebraic way. The representation based on distributions not only becomes manifestly power series alike, but it includes power series as the description of the subclass of memory-less, time-invariant, weakly nonlinear systems. With this connection, many results from the theory of power series can be extended to the larger class of weakly nonlinear systems with memory. As a specific application, the theory is specialised to weakly nonlinear electric networks. The authors show how they can be described by a set of linear equivalent circuits which can be manipulated in the usual way. The authors include many real-world examples that occur in the design of RF and mmW analogue integrated circuits for telecommunications. The examples show how the theory can elucidate many nonlinear phenomena and suggest solutions that an approach entirely based on numerical simulations can hardly suggest. The theory is extended to weakly nonlinear time-varying systems, and the authors show examples of how time-varying electric networks allow implementing functions unfeasible with time-invariant ones. The book is primarily intended for engineering students in upper semesters and in particular for electrical engineers. Practising engineers wanting to deepen their understanding of nonlinear systems should also find it useful. The book also serves as an introduction to distributions for undergraduate students of mathematics.

Structural Sensitivity Analysis and Optimization 2 Nonlinear Systems and Applications

Free Download Structural Sensitivity Analysis and Optimization 2: Nonlinear Systems and Applications by Kyung K. Choi , Nam Ho Kim
English | PDF(True) | 2005 | 336 Pages | ISBN : 0387233369 | 3.7 MB
Structural design sensitivity analysis concerns the relationship between design variables available to the design engineer and structural responses determined by the laws of mechanics. The dependence of response measures such as displacement, stress, strain, natural frequency, buckling load, acoustic response, frequency response, noise-vibration-harshness (NVH), thermo-elastic response, and fatigue life on the material property, sizing, component shape, and configuration design variables is defined through the governing equations of structural mechanics. In this 2-volume set, first- and second- order design sensitivity analyses are presented for static and dynamics responses of both linear and nonlinear elastic structural systems, including elasto-plastic and frictional contact problems.

State Estimation and Stabilization of Nonlinear Systems Theory and Applications

Free Download State Estimation and Stabilization of Nonlinear Systems: Theory and Applications by Abdellatif Ben Makhlouf, Mohamed Ali Hammami, Omar Naifar
English | PDF EPUB (True) | 2023 | 439 Pages | ISBN : 3031379691 | 73.8 MB
This book presents the separation principle which is also known as the principle of separation of estimation and control and states that, under certain assumptions, the problem of designing an optimal feedback controller for a stochastic system can be solved by designing an optimal observer for the system’s state, which feeds into an optimal deterministic controller for the system. Thus, the problem may be divided into two halves, which simplifies its design. In the context of deterministic linear systems, the first instance of this principle is that if a stable observer and stable state feedback are built for a linear time-invariant system (LTI system hereafter), then the combined observer and feedback are stable. The separation principle does not true for nonlinear systems in general. Another instance of the separation principle occurs in the context of linear stochastic systems, namely that an optimum state feedback controller intended to minimize a quadratic cost is optimal for the stochastic control problem with output measurements. The ideal solution consists of a Kalman filter and a linear-quadratic regulator when both process and observation noise are Gaussian. The term for this is linear-quadratic-Gaussian control. More generally, given acceptable conditions and when the noise is a martingale (with potential leaps), a separation principle, also known as the separation principle in stochastic control, applies when the noise is a martingale (with possible jumps).
