English | ISBN: 1498511953 | 2017 | 204 pages | EPUB | 2 MB
The Classroom as Privileged Space: Psychoanalytic Paradigms for Social Justice in Pedagogy examines the psychic and emotional effects of the dehumanization of children based on social discrimination and difference within schooling. Used as a tool to critique the current state of social justice within education, psychoanalysis allows for a focus on the individual within the social context of schooling. It highlights the emotional structures that can develop in children and learners through the oft repeated trauma of racism and homophobia. This book draws from the articulated experiences of three writers and urges the reader to approach the work of the writers and this book as a witness and as one who is enabled to respond through acquiring knowledge and acting on it. Drawing from scholars in psychoanalysis, sociology, and education, Tapo Chimbganda posits that perhaps the "safe space" education has been touting is not what is necessary to cultivate diversity, equity, and inclusion in classrooms. Rather, privilege, re-imagined through psychoanalytic technique, can make possible the elements of social justice that have long frustrated, silenced, and escaped the classroom.

The End of Individualism and the Economy Emerging Paradigms of Connection and Community

Free Download Ann E. Davis, "The End of Individualism and the Economy: Emerging Paradigms of Connection and Community "
English | ISBN: 1138321265 | 2020 | 230 pages | PDF | 2 MB
Individualism has been one of the driving forces in the rise of modern capitalism, and methodological individualism has been dominant in social science for many years. In this paradigm the economy is seen as a machine to routinize production and improve efficiency, and the discipline of economics has come to focus on control and automation. Recent innovations in natural and social sciences, however, indicate a shift in thinking away from individualism and towards interconnectedness.

New Paradigms in Flow Battery Modelling

Free Download New Paradigms in Flow Battery Modelling
English | 2023 | ISBN: 9819925231 | 689 Pages | PDF EPUB (True) | 53 MB
This book provides a comprehensive review of the latest modelling developments in flow batteries, as well as some new results and insights. Flow batteries have long been considered the most flexible answer to grid scale energy storage, and modelling is a key component in their development. Recent modelling has moved beyond macroscopic methods, towards mesoscopic and smaller scales to select materials and design components. This is important for both fundamental understanding and the design of new electrode, catalyst and electrolyte materials. There has also been a recent explosion in interest in machine learning for electrochemical energy technologies. The scope of the book includes these latest developments and is focused on advanced techniques, rather than traditional modelling paradigms. The aim of this book is to introduce these concepts and methods to flow battery researcher, but the book would have a much broader appeal since these methods also employed in other battery and fuel cell systems and far beyond. The methods will be described in detail (necessary fundamental material in Appendices). The book appeals to graduate students and researchers in academia/industry working in electrochemical systems, or those working in computational chemistry/machine learning wishing to seek new application areas.
