Environmental Problems of Central Asia and their Economic, Social and Security Impacts

Free Download Jiaguo Qi, Kyle T. Evered, "Environmental Problems of Central Asia and their Economic, Social and Security Impacts"
English | 2008 | pages: 419 | ISBN: 1402089589, v | PDF | 17,6 mb
Over the last 60 years, we have recognized increasingly that our world is connected, and the impacts of environmental catastrophes and economic crises in one region of our world have far-reaching and long-lasting consequences globally. Central Asia is a developing region with great potential, but there are valid concerns that current resource management practices are not sustainable, particularly with regard to the management of water resources. Recent changes in social structures, accompanied by regional climate change, have caused substantial environmental changes leading to security concerns in the region. As a result, the local economy has been significantly impacted to the extent that the potential for social unrest is of great concern.

Analysis of Infectious Disease Problems (Covid-19) and Their Global Impact (2024)

Free Download Analysis of Infectious Disease Problems (Covid-19) and Their Global Impact by Praveen Agarwal
English | EPUB | 2021 | 635 Pages | ISBN : 9811624496 | 100.3 MB
This edited volume is a collection of selected research articles discussing the analysis of infectious diseases by using mathematical modelling in recent times. Divided into two parts, the book gives a general and country-wise analysis of Covid-19. Analytical and numerical techniques for virus models are presented along with the application of mathematical modelling in the analysis of their spreading rates and treatments. The book also includes applications of fractional differential equations as well as ordinary, partial and integrodifferential equations with optimization methods. Probability distribution and their bio-mathematical applications have also been studied. This book is a valuable resource for researchers, scholars, biomathematicians and medical experts.

The Philosophy of Inquiry and Global Problems

Free Download The Philosophy of Inquiry and Global Problems: The Intellectual Revolution Needed to Create a Better World
English | 2024 | ISBN: 3031494903 | 540 Pages | PDF EPUB (True) | 4 MB
Universities have long been dominated by a philosophy of inquiry that may be called knowledge-inquiry. This holds that, in order to do justice to the basic humanitarian aim of helping to promote human welfare, academic inquiry must, in the first instance, seek knowledge and technological know-how. First, knowledge is to be acquired; once acquired, it can be applied to help promote human welfare. But this philosophy of knowledge-inquiry is an intellectual and humanitarian disaster. It violates three of the four most elementary rules of rational problem solving conceivable, and as a result fails to give priority to the task of helping humanity resolve those conflicts and problems of living, such as the climate and nature crises, that need to be resolved if we are to make progress to a better world – a world in which there is peace, democracy, justice, liberty, and sustainable prosperity, for all. Very few academics today are aware of this rationality scandal. We urgently need to bring about a revolution in universities around the world, wherever possible, so that academic inquiry puts all four rules of rational problem solving into practice, and becomes rationally devoted to helping humanity learn how to make progress towards a better world. Knowledge-inquiry needs to become wisdom-inquiry, rationally devoted to helping humanity create a wiser world.

Solving Fault Diagnosis Problems (2nd Edition)

Free Download Solving Fault Diagnosis Problems: Linear Synthesis Techniques with Julia Code Examples
English | 2024 | ISBN: 3031357663 | 760 Pages | PDF EPUB (True) | 58 MB
The goal of this new edition is the same as for the first edition "to address the fault detection and isolation topics from a computational perspective", by covering the same important aspects, namely, (1) providing a completely general theoretical treatment of fault and model detection problems for linear time-invariant systems; (2) presenting the best suited numerical approaches to solve the specific computational problems; (3) providing supporting software to solve the analysis and filter synthesis problems. In this second edition, the changes in the theoretical presentation are minor and all known errors and typos have been corrected. The major difference to the first edition is in the underlying computational support, which is now based on software developed in a relatively new language called Julia. The presentation of synthesis procedures and examples is similar to the first edition, but it is now interlaced with Julia codes which can be used to reproduce all computational examples and figures presented in the book. An Appendix has been added to cover some basic issues related to using Julia and the new FaultDetectionTools and DescriptorSystems packages.
