Interatomic energy transfer phenomena caused by efficient long-range electron correlations are among the most studied processes in atomic physics today. They can provide important insights into the interaction dynamics of single atomic species with their environment in more complex systems. Part I of this book covers fundamental aspects of two interatomic ionization processes relying on the efficient transfer of electronic energy via long-range electron correlations between two spatially well-separated atomic species with an emphasis on the influence of relativistic effects on ionization. Part II of this book deals with an application of interatomic energy transfer in antimatter physics, investigating attachment mechanisms for the production of substantial amounts of the positive ion of antihydrogen in view of experiments on the free-fall of antihydrogen currently planned at CERN.

Geological and Geo-Environmental Processes on Earth (2024)

Free Download Geological and Geo-Environmental Processes on Earth by Arun Kumar Shandilya
English | EPUB | 2021 | 328 Pages | ISBN : 9811641218 | 228.7 MB
This edited volume dedicated to late Prof. P.S. Saklani addresses the multidisciplinary themes pertaining to role of tectonism and magmatism in Crustal Evolution and global distribution of metallic and non metallic mineral deposits. It gives valuable information on geodynamic evolution, structural, petrological, isotopic, metamorphic, geochemical and geochronological attributes of continental and oceanic crust and is challenging reassessments of the existing paradigms. It addresses the implication of magmatism, metallogeny and application of geochronological ages (U-Pb SHRIMP age, Lu-Hf isotopic system; detrital zircons).

Biohydrogen has the highest energy content relative to weight and burns cleanly – generating just water. It is the best choice for fuel cells, where it generates electricity directly, in its reaction with oxygen. Biohydrogen occurs naturally as part of digestive gases from mammals and can be produced in specially designed anaerobic biodigesters, or through photocatalysis with microalgae. The gas is also easy to purify and use.

River Ice Processes and Ice Flood Forecasting A Guide for Practitioners and Students

Free Download River Ice Processes and Ice Flood Forecasting: A Guide for Practitioners and Students by Karl-Erich Lindenschmidt
English | PDF (True) | 2024 | 493 Pages | ISBN : 3031490878 | 32.3 MB
This book exposes practitioners and decision-makers to the theory and application of river ice processes to gain a better understanding of these processes for modelling and ice flood hazard and risk assessment. It focuses on the following processes of the surface water ice: river freeze-up and flooding, mid-winter ice-cover breakup and flooding and end-of-winter ice-cover breakup and ice jamming. The reader will receive a fundamental understanding of the physical processes of each component and how they are applied in monitoring, modelling and flood hazard/risk assessment of river ice during the entire winter season, from freeze-up to potential mid-winter breakup and concluding with springtime ice-cover breakup and ice-jam flooding. Spreadsheet, geographical information system (GIS) and modelling exercises accompany each component to reinforce the theoretical principles learned. Step-by-step tutorial videos allow the reader to better engage with the book and learn the material faster.
