English | 2024 | ISBN: 1009495402 | 94 Pages | PDF (True) | 4 MB
The January 6, 2021 invasion of the US Capitol building by a mob trying to block certification of Biden’s victory attacked a bedrock principle of American democracy, the peaceful transfer of power following an election. This Element reviews how the pubic evaluated the invaders, their actions, Donald Trump’s responsibility, and the House investigations as they evolved after January 6. It then analyzes these reactions in the broader context of contemporary American politics and considers the consequences of January 6 for the 2022 election, the Republican coalition, polarization, Trump’s indictments, electoral politics in 2024, and the future health of American democracy.

Internal Swelling Reactions in Concrete

Free Download Internal Swelling Reactions in Concrete: Mechanisms and Condition Assessment
English | 2024 | ISBN: 1032035986 | 220 Pages | PDF (True) | 82 MB
As critical concrete infrastructure deteriorates, engineers need efficient and reliable techniques to appraise the causes and the extent of deterioration, to evaluate the structural consequences and to select effective management protocols and rehabilitation strategies. This book looks at deterioration caused by internal swelling reaction (ISR) mechanisms in concrete, such as alkali-aggregate reaction, delayed ettringite formation and freeze-thaw cycles.

Dehydrogenation Reactions with 3d Metals

Free Download Dehydrogenation Reactions with 3d Metals
English | 2024 | ISBN: 3031489519 | 305 Pages | PDF EPUB (True) | 46 MB
In this book recent developments in dehydrogenation reactions catalyzed by 3d-metals are discussed. With continue efforts to develop sustainable chemical production the discovery of new catalysts and catalytic procedures for (de)hydrogenation reactions are a subject of great interest to the chemistry community. Additionally, (de)hydrogenation reactions enable the creation of closed-loop production cycles that support a circular economy. The chapters presented include the synthesis of heterocycles and tandem-multicomponent (three or more) reactions through dehydrogenative strategy, as well as the conversion of ethanol to n-butanol, higher oxidized hydrocarbons like acids, ester, amides from alcohols, α-alkylation of amines, ketones, and amides with alcohols and mechanistic understanding of dehydrogenation reactions with high-valent metals. With contributions from experts in the field, the book is a valuable resource for scholars working in the field of organometallic chemistry, catalysis, medicinal chemistry, as well as researchers in the industry.

Perspectives of Hydrosilylation Reactions

Free Download Perspectives of Hydrosilylation Reactions
English | 2023 | ISBN: 3031459598 | 585 Pages | PDF EPUB (True) | 44 MB
This volume describes the latest advances and perspectives in hydrosilylation, with a focus on new organometallic catalysts and their mechanistic aspects. Hydrosilylation is the reaction of ≡SiH with carbon-carbon, carbon-heteroatom or heteroatom-heteroatom bonds and is the most fundamental and elegant method for laboratory and industrial synthesis of organosilicon molecular and macromolecular compounds. Yet these reactions do require a catalyst, for which initially homogeneous noble metal catalyst, mainly platinum, rhodium, iridium or ruthenium were used. However the high prices, metallic residues of these valuable catalysts as well as issues with product purification, did increase the interest in developing new catalysts. Noteworthy in this regard are the recently developed hydrosilylation reactions using catalysts based on earth-abundant transition metals (for example Mn, Fe, Co, Ni) and heterogeneous catalysts presented here.
