Representations of SU(2,1) in Fourier Term Modules

Free Download Representations of SU(2,1) in Fourier Term Modules by Roelof W. Bruggeman , Roberto J. Miatello
English | PDF EPUB (True) | 2023 | 217 Pages | ISBN : 303143191X | 30 MB
This book studies the modules arising in Fourier expansions of automorphic forms, namely Fourier term modules on SU(2,1), the smallest rank one Lie group with a non-abelian unipotent subgroup. It considers the "abelian" Fourier term modules connected to characters of the maximal unipotent subgroups of SU(2,1), and also the "non-abelian" modules, described via theta functions. A complete description of the submodule structure of all Fourier term modules is given, with a discussion of the consequences for Fourier expansions of automorphic forms, automorphic forms with exponential growth included.

Smooth-Automorphic Forms and Smooth-Automorphic Representations

English | 2023 | ISBN: 9811246165 | 262 pages | True PDF | 8.85 MB
This book provides a conceptual introduction into the representation theory of local and global groups, with final emphasis on automorphic representations of reductive groups G over number fields F. Our approach to automorphic representations differs from the usual We do not consider "K-finite" automorphic forms, but we allow a richer class of smooth functions of uniform moderate growth. Contrasting the usual approach, our space of "smooth-automorphic forms" is intrinsic to the group scheme G/F. This setup also covers the advantage that a perfect representation-theoretical symmetry between the archimedean and non-archimedean places of the number field F is regained, by making the bigger space of smooth-automorphic forms into a proper, continuous representation of the full group of adelic points of G. Graduate students and researchers will find the covered topics appear for the first time in a book, where the theory of smooth-automorphic representations is robustly developed and presented in great detail.

Unitary Representations of Groups, Duals, and Characters

Free Download Bachir Bekka, "Unitary Representations of Groups, Duals, and Characters "
English | ISBN: 1470456273 | 2016 | 484 pages | PDF | 3 MB
Unitary representations of groups play an important role in many subjects, including number theory, geometry, probability theory, partial differential equations, and quantum mechanics. This monograph focuses on dual spaces associated to a group, which are spaces of building blocks of general unitary representations. Special attention is paid to discrete groups for which the unitary dual, the most common dual space, has proven to be not useful in general and for which other duals spaces have to be considered, such as the primitive dual, the normal quasi-dual, or spaces of characters. The book offers a detailed exposition of these alternative dual spaces and covers the basic facts about unitary representations and operator algebras needed for their study. Complete and elementary proofs are provided for most of the fundamental results that up to now have been accessible only in original papers and appear here for the first time in textbook form. A special feature of this monograph is that the theory is systematically illustrated by a family of examples of discrete groups for which the various dual spaces are discussed in great detail: infinite dihedral group, Heisenberg groups, affine groups of fields, solvable Baumslag-Solitar group, lamplighter group, and general and special linear groups. The book will appeal to graduate students who wish to learn the basics facts of an important topic and provides a useful resource for researchers from a variety of areas. The only prerequisites are a basic background in group theory, measure theory, and operator algebras.

Symmetry, Representations, and Invariants

Free Download Nolan R. Wallach, "Symmetry, Representations, and Invariants"
English | 2009 | pages: 731 | ISBN: 038779851X, 1441927298 | PDF | 7,4 mb
Symmetry is a key ingredient in many mathematical, physical, and biological theories. Using representation theory and invariant theory to analyze the symmetries that arise from group actions, and with strong emphasis on the geometry and basic theory of Lie groups and Lie algebras, Symmetry, Representations, and Invariants is a significant reworking of an earlier highly-acclaimed work by the authors. The result is a comprehensive introduction to Lie theory, representation theory, invariant theory, and algebraic groups, in a new presentation that is more accessible to students and includes a broader range of applications.

Masculinities in Forests Representations of Diversity

Free Download Masculinities in Forests: Representations of Diversity By Carol J. Pierce Colfer
2020 | 264 Pages | ISBN: 0367403897 | PDF | 5 MB
Masculinities in Forests: Representations of Diversity demonstrates the wide variability in ideas about, and practice of, masculinity in different forests, and how these relate to forest management. While forestry is widely considered a masculine domain, a significant portion of the literature on gender and development focuses on the role of women, not men. This book addresses this gap and also highlights how there are significant, demonstrable differences in masculinities from forest to forest. The book develops a simple conceptual framework for considering masculinities, one which both acknowledges the stability or enduring quality of masculinities, but also the significant masculinity-related options available to individual men within any given culture. The author draws on her own experiences, building on her long-term experience working globally in the conservation and development worlds, also observing masculinities among such professionals. The core of the book examines masculinities, based on long-term ethnographic research in the rural Pacific Northwest of the United States; Long Segar, East Kalimantan; and Sitiung, West Sumatra, both in Indonesia. The author concludes by pulling together the various strands of masculine identities and discussing the implications of these various versions of masculinity for forest management. This book will be essential reading for students and scholars of forestry, gender studies and conservation and development, as well as practitioners and NGOs working in these fields.

Scientific concepts, laws, theories and models are representations but are uniquely different. This book explores each within an original, philosophical framework rooted in the Kantian tradition. Through a revisionist historical approach, it shows how this tradition helps us rethink contemporary issues in epistemology and the philosophy of science.

In cultural and intellectual terms, one of the EU’s most important objectives in pursuing unification has been to develop a common historical narrative of Europe. Across ten compelling case studies, this volume examines the premises underlying such a project to ask: Could such an uncontested history of Europe ever exist? Combining studies of national politics, supranational institutions, and the fraught EU-Mideast periphery with a particular focus on the twentieth century, the contributors to
