Contributions to Simulation Speed-Up Rare Event Simulation and Short-Term Dynamic Simulation for Mobile Network Planning

2008 | 148 Pages | ISBN: 3834805246 | PDF | 2 MB
For the simulation of stochastic systems, those techniques are essential which are able to speed up the simulation, i.e. the equivalent of increasing the accuracy that can be reached within a given run-time, especially with a focus on rare events. Eugen Lamers explains the principle of simulation speed-up in general, demonstrates the technique RESTART for the simulation of rare events, and addresses its efficiency on distributed systems. Due to the character of RESTART, the efficiency is limited by the high communication overhead. The author introduces the Short-Term Dynamic Simulation concept, developed for the planning of mobile radio networks, which enables fast state space coverage along with the consideration of dynamic aspects. He analyses the speed-up potential on a theoretical basis with analytically solvable Markov models for different utilisations. With realistic models for UMTS network planning he shows that the evaluation of dynamic performance measures benefits from the Short-Term Dynamic Simulation technique.

Large Eddy Simulation of Turbulent Incompressible Flows Analytical and Numerical Results for a Class of LES Models

Free Download Volker John, "Large Eddy Simulation of Turbulent Incompressible Flows: Analytical and Numerical Results for a Class of LES Models"
English | 2003 | ISBN: 3540406433 | DJVU | pages: 279 | 3.1 mb
Large eddy simulation (LES) seeks to simulate the large structures of a turbulent flow. This is the first monograph which considers LES from a mathematical point of view. It concentrates on LES models for which mathematical and numerical analysis is already available and on related LES models. Most of the available analysis is given in detail, the implementation of the LES models into a finite element code is described, the efficient solution of the discrete systems is discussed and numerical studies with the considered LES models are presented.

Handbook of Optoelectronic Device Modeling and Simulation Fundamentals, Materials, Nanostructures, LEDs, and Amplifiers

Free Download Joachim Piprek, "Handbook of Optoelectronic Device Modeling and Simulation: Fundamentals, Materials, Nanostructures, LEDs, and Amplifiers"
English | ISBN: 1498749461 | 2017 | 814 pages | PDF | 124 MB
Optoelectronic devices are now ubiquitous in our daily lives, from light emitting diodes (LEDs) in many household appliances to solar cells for energy. This handbook shows how we can probe the underlying and highly complex physical processes using modern mathematical models and numerical simulation for optoelectronic device design, analysis, and performance optimization. It reflects the wide availability of powerful computers and advanced commercial software, which have opened the door for non-specialists to perform sophisticated modeling and simulation tasks. The chapters comprise the know-how of more than a hundred experts from all over the world. The handbook is an ideal starting point for beginners but also gives experienced researchers the opportunity to renew and broaden their knowledge in this expanding field.

The Bounding Approach to VLSI Circuit Simulation

Free Download The Bounding Approach to VLSI Circuit Simulation by Charles A. Zukowski
English | PDF | 1986 | 231 Pages | ISBN : 0898381762 | 19.8 MB
This book proposes a new approach to circuit simulation that is still in its infancy. The reason for publishing this work as a monograph at this time is to quickly distribute these ideas to the research community for further study. The book is based on a doctoral dissertation undertaken at MIT between 1982 and 1985. In 1982 the author joined a research group that was applying bounding techniques to simple VLSI timing analysis models. The conviction that bounding analysis could also be successfully applied to sophisticated digital MOS circuit models led to the research presented here. Acknowledgments ‘me author would like to acknowledge many helpful discussions and much support from his research group at MIT, including Lance Glasser, John Wyatt, Jr. , and Paul Penfield, Jr. Many others have also contributed to this work in some way, including Albert Ruchli, Mark Horowitz, Rich Zippel, Chtis Terman, Jacob White, Mark Matson, Bob Armstrong, Steve McCormick, Cyrus Bamji, John Wroclawski, Omar Wing, Gary Dare, Paul Bassett, and Rick LaMaire. The author would like to give special thanks to his wife, Deborra, for her support and many contributions to the presentation of this research. The author would also like to thank his parents for their encouragement, and IBM for its financial support of t,I-Jis project through a graduate fellowship. THE BOUNDING APPROACH TO VLSI CIRCUIT SIMULATION 1. INTRODUCTION The VLSI revolution of the 1970’s has created a need for new circuit analysis techniques.
