Giant Planets of Our Solar System An Introduction

Free Download Giant Planets of Our Solar System: An Introduction by Patrick G. J. Irwin
English | PDF (True) | 2003 | 351 Pages | ISBN : 3540313176 | 13.4 MB
This book reviews the current state of knowledge of the atmospheres of the giant gaseous planets: Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. The current theories of their formation are reviewed and their recently observed temperature, composition and cloud structures are contrasted and compared with simple thermodynamic, radiative transfer and dynamical models. The instruments and techniques that have been used to remotely measure their atmospheric properties are also reviewed, and the likely development of outer planet observations over the next two decades is outlined.

Sustainability enhances human beings’ lives, preserves their ecosystem and conserves natural resources. One of the most important steps towards sustainability is the development of renewable energy systems. Hence, different renewable energy technologies have been introduced, developed and applied in recent decades. Among different renewable energy sources, a solar energy source is one of the most attractive options for a variety of purposes, namely power generation, heating, cooling and freshwater production. The necessity of the development and performance improvement of solar energy technologies require deep insight into their working principles, effective factors and potentials of modifications. In this book, solar collectors and systems are the focus, as well as their use in a number of different applications, from power generation to heating, cooling and desalination. Furthermore, some promising approaches for the improvement of these systems and enhancement of their reliability such as the employment of quantum dots materials and storage units are represented and discussed. This book will be useful for the scholars and engineers working on solar systems and their relevant technologies and components.

The Solar Energy Transition Implementation And Policy Implications

Free Download Daniel Rich, Jon M. Veigel, "The Solar Energy Transition: Implementation And Policy Implications"
English | 2018 | ISBN: 0865316031 | EPUB | pages: 186 | 1.2 mb
Solar energy is considered by many an attractive and practical option for America’s energy future, one that is technically and commercially feasible as well as socially and environmentally desirable. Sun-generated power could meet upwards of 20 percent of U.S. energy needs by the year 2000-but only if there is a concerted national effort to use this energy option. The issues of implementation and the public and private initiatives needed to facilitate a transition to extensive use of solar energy are the focus of this volume. The solar transition is addressed from the diverse perspectives of the many necessary participants: industries and small businesses; local, state, regional, and federal governments; public utilities; policy analysts; and solar advocates. The contributors assess the extent to which solar alternatives can replace and augment other energy forms, the pace and pattern for solar commercialization, and the roles of public and private institutions in carrying out the transition. A consensus becomes apparent: Although the transition to solar energy is technically and commercially viable, its success depends on concerted public and private efforts to promote innovation and diversification in energy production and distribution and to institute major changes in public policy related to energy use.

English | PDF EPUB (True) | 2023 | 199 Pages | ISBN : 3031391462 | 75.8 MB
This book highlights research presented during the American Solar Energy Society’s 52nd National Solar Conference (ASES SOLAR 2023) held at the University of Colorado Boulder. The conference, with the theme of "Transforming the Energy Landscape for All" attracted a broad base of solar and renewable energy professionals and thought leaders, including researchers, architects, engineers, entrepreneurs, installers, manufacturers, economists, finance professionals, and policymakers – providing a platform for the exchange of ideas, information and business insights and unbiased perspectives on progress toward greater sustainability. These conference papers explore best practices and major roadblocks from a variety of perspectives in the transformation towards 100% renewable energy in the United States, focusing on the challenges to advancing renewables through principles of justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion (JEDI).
