This course focuses on seven core concepts: data types, designing a normalized database, identifying rows with primary keys, linking data with foreign keys, formalizing data relationships, indexes, and constraints. Database expert Adam Wilbert describes techniques that database developers use to protect their data. He explains why data types are important in creating a consistent data storage environment, then walks you through several common data types. Adam shows you the three normal forms of good database design. In order to work with the data stored in each row in a table, the table must contain a primary key column, or set of columns. Foreign keys provide the glue that the entire system is built on. Adam steps you through how to incorporate primary keys and foreign keys into the design of your database tables. He walks through data relationships, indexes, and constraints, then concludes with other courses you may find useful.

Structures

English | ISBN: 3110730928 | 2022 | 800 pages | PDF | 6 MB
This grammar of English embraces major lexical, phonological, syntactic structures and interfaces. It is based on the substantive assumption: that the categories and structures at all levels represent mental substance, conceptual and/or perceptual. The adequacy of this assumption in expressing linguistic generalizations is tested. The lexicon is seen as central to the grammar; it contains signs with conceptual, or content, poles, minimally words, and perceptual, and expression, poles, segments. Both words and segments are differentiated by substance-based features. They determine the erection of syntactic and phonological structures at the interfaces from lexicon. The valencies of words, the identification of their semantically determined complements and modifiers, control the erection of syntactic structures in the form of dependency relations. However, the features of different segment types determines their placement in the syllable, or as prosodies. Despite this discrepancy, dependency and linearization are two of the analogical properties displayed by lexical, syntactic and phonological structure. Analogies among parts of the grammar are another consequence of substantiveness, as is the presence of figurativeness and iconicity.

English | ISBN: 3837662829 | 2023 | 212 pages | PDF | 1360 KB
How do humans, their needs, and technology interact in society? Marcel Siegler explores the dialectical relationship between human needs and desires, the demands and requirements of the built world, and the forms of organization that hold both humans and the built world together. He argues that complex societal constellations emerge from the actions individuals perform with the technological means at hand to satisfy their needs and desires in the short and long run. Based on a novel, complementary reading of French philosopher Jean-Paul Sartre, the study develops a conceptual framework for analyzing the intricate machinations of sociotechnical systems from a perspective on situated human-technology interaction.
