The Nutshell guide is a compact presentation of everything a student needs to know to excel in IB economics exams. Written by the author of a highly popular and respected IB economics textbook, it includes key definitions, diagrams, theories, examples and evaluation. There are worked problems of all quantitative requirements, and a unique system of colours that facilitates quick review. Following the IB syllabus closely, it ensures that no syllabus topic is omitted and allows for the most efficient use of students’ time. "This book really does what its title suggests and puts the entire IB HL and SL Economics course content into a wonderfully convenient and beautifully constructed ‘nutshell’. It will prove to be an invaluable asset for students and teachers of IB Economics alike, making life for both groups considerably easier!" (Henry Tiller – former Chief Examiner for IB Economics, London) "A concise time saver! It follows the syllabus to the letter and is very thorough. Before covering a topic, I double-check The Nutshell so as not to miss a thing. My students were thrilled to have it before their exams." (Teacher, Kaohsiung American School, Taiwan) "The Nutshell is a concise, easy to use exam study guide – an excellent resource for students to complement their textbook and class notes. My students have described it as ‘a life-saver’ and ‘indispensable’." (Teacher, ENKA Schools, Istanbul) "It’s amazing. It makes me feel so safe because all the answers are placed together with all the questions." (Student, Psychiko College, Athens) "Today I had my economics test in which the majority of my class used the Nutshell book and it was the first time I saw everybody walk out of the exam with a smile on their faces. Free Download Ivar Bleiklie, Mary Henkel, "Governing Knowledge: A Study of Continuity and Change in Higher Education – A Festschrift in Honour of Maurice Kogan"
English | 2005 | pages: 286 | ISBN: 9048168821, 140203489X | PDF | 4,7 mb
In this book, an international group of leading higher education researchers draw on a wealth of social theory and comparative, empirical research to analyse current developments and their implications. Different contributions focus on different levels of higher education, the system, the institution and the academic practitioner, in different national and international contexts. However, strong common themes bind these contributions together. They include not only the significance of massification, globalisation, neo-liberalism and managerialism for the governance of higher education, its knowledge and values, but also the complexities of change processes, the importance of context and history and the strength of the stabilities that remain.

For love of the father a psychoanalytic study of religious terrorism

Free Download For love of the father : a psychoanalytic study of religious terrorism By Stein, Ruth
2010 | 220 Pages | ISBN: 0804763046 | PDF | 2 MB
Ruth Stein’s pioneering study explains suicidal terrorism from a psychoanalytic perspective. She argues that most Islamic extremists undertake destructive and self-destructive actions not out of blind hatred, nor even for political gain, but to achieve an explosive merger with a transcendent awesome Father, God. The extremist is thus motivated more by his love for God than his hatred of the infidel. The contemporary Islamic terrorist kills "God’s enemies" to express his intoxication with and complete submission to the God-idea. Stein further shows that this same leitmotif of filial submission and sacrifice runs through patriarchal monotheism in general.

Divinity Compromised A Study of Divine Accommodation in the Thought of John Calvin

Free Download Jon Balserak, "Divinity Compromised: A Study of Divine Accommodation in the Thought of John Calvin"
English | 2006 | pages: 222 | ISBN: 1402050550, 9048172683 | PDF | 2,1 mb
Divine accommodation in John Calvin’s thought has yet to receive the attention it deserves. To date it has not been the subject of a monograph-length treatment in any language (this study is the first) and the number of journal articles and book chapters devoted solely to it is small. The present work will, it is hoped, help to fill this lacuna in research on the topic, but additional research is undoubtedly still needed. Its title probably deserves a comment. The use of the word compromised is intended to raise the question of the extent of accommodation’s penetration into Calvin’s doctrine of God. It aims to suggest the idea that Calvin’s thinking on accommodation might possess qualities which push against traditional thinking on the divine attributes. The idea was first suggested by E. David Willis. The present study will aim to expand upon it. This monograph owes much to the efforts of Emeritus Professor of Patristic and Reformed Christianity, David F. Wright, who, as supervisor, colleague and friend, has offered assistance to me on innumerable occasions and has also demonstrated a level of scholarly excellence in his own work that has been enormously instructive and encouraging. Thanks are also due to a host of others. Thanks must be expressed to Professor Tony Lane, who offered very helpful criticisms of two earlier versions of this work and whose kindness has not gone unnoticed or unappreciated.
