Innovative Implantation Technique Bag-in-the-Lens Cataract Surgery (2024)

Free Download Innovative Implantation Technique: Bag-in-the-Lens Cataract Surgery by Marie-José Tassignon
English | PDF,EPUB | 2019 | 217 Pages | ISBN : 3030030857 | 131.87 MB
This book provides a complete overview of the bag-in-the-lens implantation technique written by the pioneering force herself. The technique first developed for the adults and later for paediatrics has had overwhelmingly positive outcomes in reduction of posterior capsular opacification and stability. Nowadays, it is used as a primary approach in all patients with cataract. The initial version of the bag-in-the-lens implant is a monofocal spherical hydrophilic intraocular lens comprised of a 5mm bi-convex optic with two elliptical plane haptics. Bag-in-the-Lens Cataract Surgery guides through the steps required to achieve successful implantation in a concise and highly illustrated format to portray how to effectively perform this surgery. The toric version was launched in 2009 and the diffractive version is on its way.

The Truth About Freud’s Technique The Encounter With the Real (Psychoanalytic Crossroads)

Free Download The Truth About Freud’s Technique: The Encounter With the Real (Psychoanalytic Crossroads) By Michael Guy Thompson
1997 | 318 Pages | ISBN: 0814782191 | EPUB | 3 MB
In this unusual and much-needed reappraisal of Freud’s clinical technique, M. Guy Thompson challenges the conventional notion that psychoanalysis promotes relief from suffering and replaces it with a more radical assertion, that psychoanalysis seeks to mend our relationship with the real that has been fractured by our avoidance of the same. Thompson suggests that, while avoiding reality may help to relieve our experience of suffering, this short-term solution inevitably leads to a split in our existence. M. Guy Thompson forcefully disagrees with the recent trend that dismisses Freud as an historical figure who is out of step with the times. He argues, instead, for a return to the forgotten Freud, a man inherently philosophical and rooted in a Greek preoccupation with the nature of truth, ethics, the purpose of life and our relationship with reality. Thompson’s argument is situated in a stunning re-reading of Freud’s technical papers, including a new evaluation of his analyses of Dora and the Rat Man in the context of Heidegger’s understanding of truth. In this remarkable examination of Freud’s technical recommendations, M. Guy Thompson explains how psychoanalysis was originally designed to re-acquaint us with realities we had abandoned by encountering them in the contest of the analytic experience. This provocative examination of Freud’s conception of psychoanalysis reveals a more personal Freud than we had previously supposed, one that is more humanistic and real.

Atlas of Keystone Reconstructive Technique in Melanoma Management

Free Download Atlas of Keystone Reconstructive Technique in Melanoma Management
English | 2023 | ISBN: 303139867X | 213 Pages | PDF (True) | 35 MB
Worldwide, it is quoted that 85% of Melanoma cases are treated surgically. The reliability of the Keystone Perforator Island Flap (KPIF) as a reconstructive technique has wide applications. Its low complication rate is the key to its surgical success. The technique is clearly explained in this Atlas by the author, a renowned plastic and reconstructive surgeon, who established this reconstructive principle over 20 years. The illustrations range from simple to complex cases in an easy-to-follow format. Audio files, as a supplementary tool, amplify the technique to enhance the reader’s experience and foster clear understanding. Chapters focussing on anatomical regions contain carefully selected cases accompanied by images to demonstrate a step-by-step surgical technique. The basic design format for all Keystones are highlighted, all sitting within the dermatomal precincts. The KPIF must contain a fascial base for lining and the island outline is an essential pre-requisite. It is hypothesized that this islanding creates a sympathectomy effect resulting in hyperaemic blood flow which optimises healing. Undermining up to 2/3 is permissible as long as there is a deep attachment of 1/3 at the base of the flap to contain the random perforator vascular support. This design allows the rotation, advancement and transposition (ART) of the flap to facilitate the reconstructive closures. Presumably, there are somatic and autonomic neural support lines accompanying the vascular pathways of these random perforator flaps. The vascular perforator tree must not be skeletonised (as in propellor flaps) to allow preservation of such anatomical elements – somatic, autonomic and lymphatic pathways, all of which are an essential component in any surgical repair. This KPIF provides an alternative to microvascular procedures where the biggest drawback is tissue match. The KPIF addresses this problem admirably with a low pain component, an excellent aesthetic match with a low vascular complication rate and a performed in an expeditious manner – these all characterise the KPIF. Simple solutions solve problems and this KPIF Atlas for Melanoma becomes a welcome companion to any surgical speciality including plastic and reconstructive surgeons, surgical oncologists, general surgeons and dermatologists.
