For centuries, the concept of the multiverse-meaning the idea that there are multiple hypothetical universes beyond our observable universe-has fascinated both scientists and philosophers. The laws of physics are considered a fundamental building block of experience as we know it, but this volume considers what would happen if slight changes were made to the laws of physics that allow for multiple parallel universes. This title offers arguments both supporting and opposing the concept of the multiverse, giving readers the opportunity to form their own opinions.

Colonel Crystal’s Parallel Universe

Free Download James Hufferd, "Colonel Crystal’s Parallel Universe"
English | 2019 | pages: 288 | ISBN: 1634241681 | EPUB | 0,9 mb
The books fictional protagonist, Colonel Alva A. Crystal, U.S.A.F (ret.), points out and argues in some detail that ubiquitous overseas intervention by the U.S. military in the past few decades, not only stifles American economic competitiveness and viability, but has done far more harm than good to both America’s image and global stability. The outstanding result is that the United States is viewed worldwide not implausibly as the most dangerous country and the leading obstacle to world peace and prosperity. Col. Alva Crystal, a troubled and sympathetic flesh-and-blood character and something of a scholar, desperately heralds a return to the defense-only military mission that prevailed in the U. S. during its formative years. Such a return to what Colonel Crystal refers to and touts as a Benevolent Military would, he claims, effectively serve to address and repair much of what plainly has gone haywire with this country since 9/11

Things That Go Bump in the Universe How Astronomers Decode Cosmic Chaos [Audiobook]

Free Download Things That Go Bump in the Universe: How Astronomers Decode Cosmic Chaos (Audiobook)
English | ASIN: B0CLVT44HG | 2023 | 12 hours and 3 minutes | M4B@64 kbps | 334 MB
Author: C. Renee James
Narrator: Wendy Tremont King

The violent birth of the universe was only the first bang of a very bumpy ride. This unfathomably cacophonous beginning has spawned blasts, implosions, cosmic cannibalism, collisions, and countless other fleeting energetic events punctuating the cosmos. Although often brief, these transient phenomena pack a powerful punch. In Things That Go Bump in the Universe, astronomer and science writer C. Renee James introduces us to her colleagues around the world, who are using pioneering research techniques to explore everything from the very first explosions in the universe to the dark energy that could destroy it all.

The Unity of Science Exploring Our Universe, from the Big Bang to the Twenty-First Century [Audiobook]

Free Download The Unity of Science: Exploring Our Universe, from the Big Bang to the Twenty-First Century (Audiobook)
English | ASIN: B0CLYWX4JZ | 2023 | 12 hours and 47 minutes | M4B@64 kbps | 376 MB
Author: Irwin Shapiro
Narrator: Christina Delaine

A journey guided by science that explores the universe, the earth, and the story of life. For Irwin Shapiro, science starts with questions. This book provides a broad and entertaining survey of major scientific discoveries that have changed our views of nature and, in turn, spawned further questions. Shapiro, an award-winning scientist and beloved teacher, separates his inquiry into three parts: looking up at the universe; looking down at the earth and its fossils; and looking in at the story of life. His framework encourages listeners to view science as a detective story-to observe and question nature and natural phenomena, and to base all conclusions on scientific evidence. With his knowledgeable yet conversational approach, Shapiro offers an enjoyable way for the curious to learn about the foundations of a range of scientific topics: the motions of bodies in the cosmos, the history and structure of the earth, the evolution of organisms, and the search for extraterrestrial life and intelligence.

The Amazing Unity of the Universe And Its Origin in the Big Bang

Free Download The Amazing Unity of the Universe: And Its Origin in the Big Bang by Edward van den Heuvel
English | PDF (True) | 2016 | 317 Pages | ISBN : 3319235427 | 19.4 MB
In the first chapters the author describes how our knowledge of the position of Earth in space and time has developed, thanks to the work of many generations of astronomers and physicists. He discusses how our position in the Galaxy was discovered, and how in 1929, Hubble uncovered the fact that the Universe is expanding, leading to the picture of the Big Bang. He then explains how astronomers have found that the laws of physics that were discovered here on Earth and in the Solar System (the laws of mechanics, gravity, atomic physics, electromagnetism, etc.) are valid throughout the Universe. This is illustrated by the fact that all matter in the Universe consists of atoms of the same chemical elements that we know on Earth. This unity is all the more surprising when one realizes that in the original Big Bang theory, different parts of the Universe could never have communicated with each other. It then is a mystery how they could have shared the same physical laws. This problem was solved by the introduction of the idea of inflation, a phase of extremely rapid expansion of the Universe during the first fraction of a second following the Big Bang. The author explains how the unity of the Universe finds its origin in the Big Bang prior to inflation. The book addresses the many fundamental questions about the Universe and its contents from the perspective of the Big Bang: the formation of structure in the Universe, the questions of the mysterious dark matter and dark energy, the possibilities of other Universes (the Multiverse) and of the existence of intelligent life elsewhere in the Universe.
