Divine Impassibility Four Views of God’s Emotions and Suffering

Free Download A. Chadwick Thornhill, "Divine Impassibility: Four Views of God’s Emotions and Suffering"
English | 2019 | pages: 201 | ISBN: 0830852530 | PDF | 3,4 mb
Does God suffer? Does God experience emotions? Does God change? How should we interpret passages of Scripture that seem to support one view or the other? And where does the incarnation and Christ’s suffering on the cross fit into this? This Spectrum Multiview volume brings together four theologians with decidedly different answers to these questions. The contributors make a case for their own view―ranging from a traditional affirmation of divine impassibility (the idea that God does not suffer) to the position that God is necessarily and intimately affected by creation―and then each contributor responds to the others’ views. The lively but irenic discussion that takes place in this conversation demonstrates not only the diversity of opinion among Christians on this theological conundrum but also its ongoing relevance for today. Krishna Sobti’s Views on Literature and the Poetics of Writing Theoretical Positions and Literary Practice in Modern Hi

Free Download Vuille, "Krishna Sobti’s Views on Literature and the Poetics of Writing: Theoretical Positions and Literary Practice in Modern Hi"
English | ISBN: 3110781441 | 2022 | 325 pages | EPUB, PDF | 2 MB + 4 MB
How does a writer discuss her creative process and her views on a writer’s role in society? How do her comments on writing relate to her works? The Hindi writer Krishna Sobti (1925-2019) is known primarily as a novelist. However, she also extensively wrote about her views on the creative process, the figure of the writer, historical writing, and the position of writers within the public sphere. This study is the first to examine in detail the relationship between Sobti’s views on poetics as exposed in her non-fictional texts and her own literary practice. The writer’s self-representation is analysed through her use of metaphors to explain her creative process. Sobti’s construction of the figure of the writer is then put in parallel with her idiosyncratic use of language as a representation of the heterogeneous voices of her characters and with her conception of literature as a space where time and memory can be "held." At the same time, by delving into Sobti’s position in the debate around "women’s writing" (especially through the creation of a male double, the failed writer Hashmat), and into her views on literature and politics, this book also reflects on the literary debates of the post-Independence Hindi literary sphere.

English | ISBN: 3110738783 | 2022 | 180 pages | EPUB, PDF | 2 MB + 1482 KB
The history of travel has long been constructed and described almost exclusively as a history of "European", male mobility, without, however, explicitly making the gender and whiteness of the travellers a topic. The anthology takes this as an occasion to focus on journeys to Europe that gave "non-Europeans" the opportunity to glance at "Europe" and to draw a picture of it by themselves.

Kant, Race, and Racism Views from Somewhere

Free Download Kant, Race, and Racism: Views from Somewhere by Huaping Lu-Adler
2023 | ISBN: 0197685218 | English | 424 pages | PDF/EPUB | 31/4 MB
Kant scholars have paid relatively little attention to his raciology. They assume that his racism, as personal prejudice, can be disentangled from his core philosophy. They also assume that racism contradicts his moral theory. In this book, philosopher Huaping Lu-Adler challenges both assumptions. She shows how Kant’s raciology-divided into racialism and racism-is integral to his philosophical system. She also rejects the individualistic approach to Kant and racism. Instead, she uses the notion of racism as ideological formation to demonstrate how Kant, from his social location both as a prominent scholar and as a lifelong educator, participated in the formation of modern racist ideology.
