A Passion for Cooperation is the exciting autobiography of Robert Axelrod, one of the most acclaimed and wide-ranging scientists of the last fifty years. After being recognized by President Kennedy for being a promising young scientist while in high school, Axelrod built a career dedicated to collaborating with business school professors, international relations scholars, political scientists, computer scientists, and even evolutionary biologists and cancer researchers. Fifty years later, he was honored by President Obama with the National Medal of Science for scientific achievement and leadership and his work has been referred to as the gold standard of interdisciplinary research.

Direct Conversion Receivers in Wide-Band Systems

Free Download Direct Conversion Receivers in Wide-Band Systems by Aarno Pärssinen
English | PDF | 2001 | 250 Pages | ISBN : 0792376072 | 19.5 MB
This book is based on my doctoral thesis at the Helsinki University of Technology. Several different projects during five years guided me from the basics of the RF IC design to the implementations of highly integrated radio receiver chips. Sharing time and effort between IC and system issues is not always straightforward. I have been lucky to follow both topics and share experiences with diligent and enthusiastic people having different specialities. As a result, this book will cover a wide range of different topics needed in the design of highly integrated radio receivers. Experiences from the first receiver prototypes for the third generation cellular systems form the basis of this book. Most of the issues are directly related to the early proposals of European and Japanese standardization organizations. For example, the chip rate was originally set to 4. 096 Mcps in a wide-band CDMA channel. I have kept that number in the book in most of the examples although it has been later changed to 3. 84 Mcps. I hope that the readers will accept that and the possible other incompabilities to the latest specifications. At least in the research phase the changes even in the most essential requirements are definitely not a rare incident and IC designers should be able to react and modify their designs as soon as they can.

Wide Awake in Slumberland Fantasy, Mass Culture, and Modernism in the Art of Winsor McCay (Tom Inge Series on Comics Artists)

Free Download Katherine Roeder, "Wide Awake in Slumberland: Fantasy, Mass Culture, and Modernism in the Art of Winsor McCay (Tom Inge Series on Comics Artists)"
English | 2014 | pages: 221 | ISBN: 1617039608 | EPUB | 36,4 mb
Cartoonist Winsor McCay (1869-1934) is rightfully celebrated for the skillful draftmanship and inventive design sense he displayed in the comic strips Little Nemo in Slumberland and Dream of the Rarebit Fiend. McCay crafted narratives of anticipation, abundance, and unfulfilled longing. This book explores McCay’s interest in dream imagery in relation to the larger preoccupation with fantasy that dominated the popular culture of early twentieth-century urban America.

Open Wide The Freedom Gates A Memoir

Free Download Dorothy Height, "Open Wide The Freedom Gates: A Memoir"
English | 2003 | pages: 345 | ISBN: 1586482866, 1586481576 | EPUB | 0,3 mb
Dorothy Height marched at civil rights rallies, sat through tense White House meetings, and witnessed every major victory in the struggle for racial equality. Yet as the sole woman among powerful, charismatic men, someone whose personal ambition was secondary to her passion for her cause, she has received little mainstream recognition – until now. In her memoir, Dr. Height, now ninety-one, reflects on a life of service and leadership. We witness her childhood encounters with racism and the thrill of New York college life during the Harlem Renaissance. We see her protest against lynchings. We sit with her onstage as Martin Luther King Jr. delivers his "I Have a Dream" speech. We meet people she knew intimately throughout the decades: W.E.B. DuBois, Marcus Garvey, Eleanor Roosevelt, Mary McLeod Bethune, Adam Clayton Powell Sr., Langston Hughes, and many others. And we watch as she leads the National Council of Negro Women for forty-one years, her diplomatic counsel sought by U.S. Presidents from Eisenhower to Clinton.

Low-Power Wide-Area Networks Opportunities, Challenges, Risks and Threats

Free Download Low-Power Wide-Area Networks: Opportunities, Challenges, Risks and Threats by Ismail Butun, Ian F. Akyildiz
English | PDF EPUB (True) | 2023 | 225 Pages | ISBN : 3031329341 | 20.9 MB
This book offers the most suitable methods of applying Low-Power Wide-Area Network (LPWAN) technology to conceptual works and/or research studies. For instance, existing IoT protocols such as CoAP and MQTT are complemented by LPWAN to provide better service quality (QoS) to enable the notion of "sensor as a service" to endpoint users which is demonstrated in this book. LPWAN is a new enabling technology for IoT, filling the gap that existed between the legacy network technologies (WLAN, LAN, PAN) in terms of power, range, and data rates. It is also an alternative solution to implementations of IoT via cellular (4G/5G/6G) technologies, as it operates on the ISM band and also provides long-term battery life. Due to the several advantages, it brings, LPWAN raises high enthusiasm for many stakeholders of IoT. However, there still exist many research challenges to be tackled within this technology. As such this book aims at shedding light on those research problems.

Effective Cybersecurity Operations for Enterprise-Wide Systems

Free Download Effective Cybersecurity Operations for Enterprise-Wide Systems
by Adedoyin Festus

English | 2023 | ISBN: 1668490188 | 343 pages | True PDF EPUB | 21.05 MB
Cybersecurity, or information technology security (I/T security), is the protection of computer systems and networks from information disclosure; theft of or damage to their hardware, software, or electronic data; as well as from the disruption or misdirection of the services they provide. The field is becoming increasingly critical due to the continuously expanding reliance on computer systems, the internet, wireless network standards such as Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, and the growth of "smart" devices, which constitute the internet of things (IoT). Cybersecurity is also one of the significant challenges in the contemporary world, due to its complexity, both in terms of political usage and technology. Its primary goal is to ensure the dependability, integrity, and data privacy of enterprise-wide systems in an era of increasing cyberattacks from around the world. Effective Cybersecurity Operations for Enterprise-Wide Systems examines current risks involved in the cybersecurity of various systems today from an enterprise-wide perspective. While there are multiple sources available on cybersecurity, many publications do not include an enterprise-wide perspective of the research. The book provides such a perspective from multiple sources that include investigation into critical business systems such as supply chain management, logistics, ERP, CRM, knowledge management, and others. Covering topics including cybersecurity in international business, risk management, artificial intelligence, social engineering, spyware, decision support systems, encryption, cyber-attacks and breaches, ethical hacking, transaction support systems, phishing, and data privacy, it is designed for educators, IT developers, education professionals, education administrators, researchers, security analysts, systems engineers, software security engineers, security professionals, policymakers, and students.
